Fine words, - the sentiment of which I agree, but no commitment to any action whatsoever.

As usual from this man; all mouth and no trousers.

What you have liked him to have said khandro?

" the sentiment of which I agree, but no commitment to any action whatsoever"

Yes, very odd. Normally when a PM comes out to make a speech outside No 10, it's to announce some sort of action, or policy, or that something has "happened". It felt like scaremongering for political gain to me, that is my honest opinion.

I don't think it's scaremongering at all.  This country needs to sit up and really take notice of what's happening - and fast.

Taking notice isn't much good on its own though if nothing new is going to be done

Naomi is correct i.m.o.. In the late 1980s a muslim representing some important Muslim organisation visited the school I was teaching in in Halifax  and toured the classes, telling each member of staff what they should and should not not be doing (in my case, teaching representational drawing).

He was quite open about the intention to form the Caliphate for the western world in our area.  Along Calderdale, out  through Rochdale, Blackburn etc. over the tops,through Skipton and along the Aire Valley to join Bradford.

We were politely sceptical - he informed us very calmly that they would outbreed us and that there would be islamic rule and laws.

That was 40+ years ago.  We've turned a blind eye. In fact those of us who tried to say something about what was in front of our eyes were castigated - so you stop in the end.

Well said, jourdain.

She said it all in here;

Yes but where are we going with this? When the PM comes out at close of play in a Friday one exiwcts him to make some major announcement: instead we got a series of observations which I am sure went down well with many and were rightly backed up by Sir KS. It just all felt a bit odd: like street theatre.

As far as the unspeakable Galloway is concerned we have in fact been here before with him winning by-elections in rabble rousing style. I  think we should be careful we don't overrract. People like that feed off conflict: we shouldn't feed him

I've listened to him again and I agree with you.  Rather than addressing the problem for what it really is - that we aren't all dancing happily hand in hand around a pretty maypole in the sunshine - he is still attempting to appease.

For me the most telling part of the Galloway supporters gathering afterwards was the lack of any females - is this what we want for our country?

I don't think that Rishi would have spoken had it not been for George Galloway's remark----'That's one for Gaza'.

Relief it was nothing of any significance. I was worried that something had happenned to Larry the cat
