Wales has scrapped the 20mph speed limit and reverted to 30

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13330529/Welsh-government-plans-20mph-speed-limit-u-turn.html

I can see the need for a 20mph limit in some specific areas at specific times but it couldn't work everywhere.

I wonder how much this failed exercise has cost?

We've been to Scotland (Borders) for many years now for our main holiday, but we haven't booked yet - because we are both fed  up of unnecessary, repeat unnecessary, 20 m.p.h. rules.  They can go on for miles on roads which could happily manage 40 or 50!

Sorry it's 50 kph in all built up areas unless sign-posted as 30. I think I'm going ga-ga.

Manchester City Council have no plans to scrap all their 20 mph limits, imposed on over 3,000 roads and streets after people voted in a referendum against toll charging. People said it was an act of vindictiveness. They also increased parking charges whilst lowering the time allowed. They increased penalties for breaches of parking regs. More roads were narrowed; more speed bumps introduced; more traffic islands; more bus lanes; more speed cameras. The motorist is gonna pay, one way or the other, toll charges or not!
