If they can't refuse trans women because they are men, they can't really refuse women.

Question Author

Trans women are men.

The real reason is stated in the article

"Analysis of the club's rules by senior judges concluded there was nothing in the Garrick's constitution preventing women from being allowed to join, because the 1925 Law of Property Act advises that in legal documents the word "he" should also be read to mean "she"."

Why are you repeating what I said?

Question Author

Because you seem not to have grasped the bleedin' obvious in your own statement.

It's interesting, women dont want to share their bogs and spaces but are quite happy to invade mens spaces.

There should be places for women only and for men only without any moans from eithe wanting to join another sex club.  If you want that then join a unisex club or form one.

They wouldn't admit me as a man - maybe if I self-identify as a woman....

What restroom facilities are provided?

Question Author

I also wonder if the judge was the notorious Ernest Left-Leaning.

A perverse judgement in my view.

douglas, if they have to accept trans women because they are men but refuse women, they would have to demand proof of sex when a man turns up in a frock which would be nigh on impossible if he has had the full surgery and a new birth certificate.

A person who has had the op is not fully a man though.  No dangly bits and is to all effects and purposes a 'woman' .  The only question for people in that category is about Sports participation.

I voted against it but the place hasn't been hoovered since 1831 so really those in favour did have a good point...dust don't talk to me about dust! 😁

Do any women actually want to be members & if so, would it be just to prove a point rather than a desire to use the facilities?

In real terms how many women would want to join other than to support the principle,  would probably turn up once never to return... The sort of blokes who belong to 'clubs' always seem to be of the pompous old fart variety anyway.

Your terms and conditions are expanding, barry.

Well I don't understand why you asked the question when the answer is in the article, douglas.

Question Author

Then I can't help you, barry.

Have a nice day.

I think it's called posting to encourage usage....

Question Author

No, rowan, that would be 'which one do I wear to the Garrick?'

davebro: "Do any women actually want to be members & if so, would it be just to prove a point rather than a desire to use the facilities?" - Mostly no but there are always a few who just don't like the idea they cannot be. They are usually the the harridan left wing types.
