It is a tale
Told by
a couple of idiots, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.

If an impartial view from across the pond helps I'd say The Prime Minister knocked the other guy out easily.

You take a lot of interest in UK politics for an American, Mr Kardachew.

They're are drawing and both lying through their teeth.

Also I think the umpire was terrible. The debate was poorly managed. They just ignored her and talked over her and each other.

Mr Clone, I have not logged on for months and I have rarely commented on politics. Not sure what you mean.

Is Sue Gray Ffamous in America?

Does anyone believe Sunak would really take us out of the  ECHR?

I thought the good and great of both AB Left and AB Right would be on here chundering away at the bit claiming their guy wiped the floor with the other.

Do you mean people actually watch this?

I didn't watch it. I think these TV debates cheapen the political process.

In a close run thing (which this thankfully isn't) it would become about who came over better on telly, rather than actual policies. I don't like that.

true that - wasn't JFK vs Nixon the first TV debate? And JFK won because Nixon looked sweaty. (Perhaps that wasn't unfair, either.)

Exactly. Pure luck though that the sweaty guy turned out to be crooked.

At the time, he probably should have won. If Kennedy had had a bad curry and sheet his pants live on air things could have been different.

doing my best to put my own personal politics aside i think starmer was complacent... not a good performance in my opinion

sunak not "good" exactly but i think he did a better job. probably because he knew he had something to prove

I didn't watch it. I don't know what people are expecting from these useless, time-wasting events.

Why watch if your mind's already made up...

Change channel. I do not like or tolerate liars.

'The prime minister knocked the other guy out easily'. At least you didn't say: 'end of'.

Not from what I saw. There was no clear winner. The studio audience clapped more for Starmer but there were lots of fudged answers on both sides.

Keirjust needs to say little. He did that. Lots of 'we will come up with a plan or re doctors strike ' we will resolve it's and we'll close tax loopholes that govts have tried to close for many decades but new ones will always be found by the rich. Rishi has no record to defend either except perhaps furlough.

RS has nothing to lose, he can go guns blazing.  SKS on the other hand can afford (at the moment) to avoid any direct answers.

Of course SKS's tactic may well backfire when people realize he really doesnt have any new solutions to the problems and that tax will have to rise to pay for his net zero etc.

But will they not vote labour?  A couple of days ago I would have said no, but Farage is now on the scene and the political debate will have to heat up.  Reform also offers a good platform for disenchanted Labour voters (they are not the hated Tories).

We shall see.

i didn't see it, but there's a lot of chatter on social media about how badly Ms Etchingham handled a question about Gaza.

.......anybody?

I class myself as a Conservative undecider. I watched the debate, or cock fight with no umpire, and listened carefully to what each said or more importantly did not say. My conclusion at the end was simple. I looked at SK and thought to myself I just can't do it.

At least they kept their jackets on .
