Will the mild mannered Labour leader success where Corbyn failed? Has our democracy ever faced a greater threat?

If Labour are elected, I don't just want change - I want radical change. Re-nationalise all the utilities without compensation. That's behind a paywall.   What does he intend to do?

Give the judiciary more say in the running of the country and more power for the devolved governments.  It may not sound much but these suggestions could  be the tip of the iceberg.

But this is from the Mail so a large pinch of salt is probably required.

Comments about the dangers of a large Labour majority if voters shift from Tory to Reform.

They've ripped us off enough since privatisation, especially the water companies, who don't have to produce anything but outrageous profits. The NHS, and housing should also be radically changed. But so far in this campaign I haven't seen any signs of that from Labour. Change is hardly any good. It has to be radical change.

Thanks Wolf.

I hope they've prepared to hit the ground running when they get the keys to Number 10.

Affordable housing should be a priority, in mho.

@08.00.Wolfie Smith rides again. Are you the Tooting Popular Front or the Popular Front Of Tooting?

^@Clarion .

Biggest problem Starmer will have is the pressure on the NHS . When he has to De/Radicalise all the Tory supporters.

I hate to raise it, but immigration. If it continues to run at 100,000s a year where are they (and we) going to live?

08.35 Maybe Sunak might be thinking of sending 100,000s of Brits to  Rwanda to free up some space and housing for the Immigrants.

//But this is from the Mail so a large pinch of salt is probably required.//

But you appear to pay for additional content?

In answer to your question I doubt we will see much change especially in the first couple of years.  They will wheel out the tired old "We have now looked at the books and what we have been left with...." rethoric and use it as an excuse not to achieve anything in the manifesto. They ALL do it time and time again!

Slight problem. Hasn't been able to send one (at the moment). At about half the cost of his wife's fortune.

Not digging, but what would you like to see?  Council Housing, more Housing associations, Government long term mortgaes??

//Re-nationalise all the utilities without compensation.//

Hmmm, and how do you think that would go down on the World stage since its the World (and also many Pension funds so you may well own a small chunck of one) that tends to own them.

And how far would you take it?  Do you want us all to have to go to the board to get a new cooker at a massively inflated price or to a telcom comany and wait 6 months for a connection and then pay through the nose?

Dont get me wrong I do not agree with all utilities being in private hands but there has to be limits too on public ownership to stop the public being held to ransom.

IF Labour get in with a big majority it looks like they will be there for the rest of my life. Glad I wasn't born later!

Give them a chance davebro.

10cs: "Re-nationalise all the utilities without compensation. They've ripped us off enough since privatisation, especially the water companies, who don't have to produce anything but outrageous profits. " - I agree with that, the utilities should never have been privatised.
