I agree with Margo, Tom Jones can still sing.

Macca will be ok if he has enough backing singers and band members singing along with him.

Might not be a good idea for him to sing solo.

Depends on what he's singing. When he did Glastonbury the other year, he was fine with the ballads, but when he did Maybe I'm Amazed it was painful.

Bazile - The barometer you use to measure any artwork is, by definition, doomed to fail.

You can't say that any pop or rock musician is, or is not, a 'good singer, because you have nothing meaningful to use as a yardstick. 

The worth of any singer outside the classical world, which does enjoy a more rigorous set of standards to work with, depends entirely on the enjoyment, or not, of the individual listener. 

That means thar an artist like Bob Dylan, who has always had a singularly unique way of delivering his own lyrical diamonds to his army of listeners, has never needed to lose a moment's sleep wondering about the perceived 'quality' of his vocal intonation.

Because his fans simply accept the way he sounds, and worry not one jot if their hero was 'measured' against Sinatra or Pavarotti.

Because they don't care.

So any attempt to dismiss Dylan as a 'poor singer' is ignored equally by people who adore him, and those who think he sounds like a washing machine full of gravel. 

Their opinions may vary, but their indifference is absolutely uniform.

They don't care, and amen to that.

You may refer to Sir Paul as coming up short by whatever measure you are using.

I know that when he counts in 'I Saw Her Standing There', his jubilantly shouted "One two three FOUR!" suggests that I am about to hear two minutes and some seconds of the most incendiary rock and roll ever recorded, and then I do.

Am I bothered that he seems to be an 'average' singer?

If mcartney was on on answerbank he'd probably tell a few people it was about time they shut the chuff up, being long past their sell by date, and they'd quite rightly ignore it.
