Strangely, Sky News just had "Adrian Johnson", a "Just Stop Oil" spokesman on (well, remotely, speaking from a broom cupboard with walls painted a hideous green (hope there was no oil used in the production of the paint) full of bookshelves). The presenter asked just that question (only a little more delicately 😀). Here's his reply (I have the interview recorded so can relay it verbatim:
"I think if people stop and think about this for... a minute and they consider literally that some custard powder has been throw at some stones - important stones, of course - and that this action has been taken to conserve civilisation then, you know, the balance [raises both hands to imitate a pair of scales] I think people will actually sympathise and empathise.."
I believe the twonk thinks wrong.
"Adrian Johnson" does no take into consideration not all won't use oil protestors use custard, some use real oil based paint and thats an oxymoron, and some would probably go even further and use some kind acid, and thats very serious, it's the inclination to bring home there warped protest, what next blow up a refinery a petrol station, oil tanker, these people have to be stopped.
sandy // It was only dyed cornflour. The rain, or a fire brigade water pump will soon wash it off.//
So in your estimation, that's OK then?
Dye is Dye, and whether natural or synthetic, whether it's suspended in water or oil, it penetrates stone and it isn't easily or possible to completely remove.
The War Office in Whitehall, built of porous Portland stone was sprayed with red paint (by a different group of nutters) and has proved to be enormously difficult problem to clean, and leave the building looking as it was before the attack.
“Birching Old Age Pensioners might raise a few eyebrows! 😄”
Then they shouldn’t roam around chucking paint over ancient monuments. If you behave like a spoiled teenager, you should get treated like one.
However, a dangerous new development took place at Stansted airport:
They’ve now moved into territory covered by the Aviation Security Act and the Anti-terrorism, Crime and Security Act. Hopefully the sanctions will be a little more severe.
Doesn’t say much for security at Stansted, though. That airport is used as the UK’s main diversionary site for aircraft thought to be under threat from terrorism. I thought they’d do a bit better.
Yesterday----5 tourists died in Greece and 3 others missing, a 19 yrs.old lad missing in Tenerife, and reportedly more than a 100 died at Mecca. Mostly due to the excessive heat. Also a poor little baby mauled to death by a dog. What is making the news? A bit of paint thrown onto a pile of old stones.!!
