The author donated £1m to Labour in 2008 but in recent years has been critical of the party's position on gender.

"As long as Labour remains dismissive and often offensive towards women fighting to retain the rights their foremothers thought were won for all time, I'll struggle to support them," she wrote in the Times.

The former Labour donor accused the party under Sir Keir's leadership of a “dismissive and often offensive” approach to women's concerns.

Rowling also accused Sir Keir Starmer of offering no support to Rosie Duffield over the threats and abuse she has received "some of which has originated from within the Labour Party itself".

Last week, Ms Duffield, who is standing for re-election in Canterbury, said she had not attended election hustings due to "constant trolling" and has spent £2,000 on bodyguards while campaigning.

Not forgetting Starmer's ludicrous claim that some women have penises, has Labour's damaging stance on transgender issues alienated a large proportion of the electorate - both men and women?  On this issue alone I wouldn't vote for them.

Me neither.

In September 2021, Starmer criticised Duffield for saying that only women have a cervix. ‘It’s something that shouldn’t be said,’ Starmer told Andrew Marr during a BBC interview.

when quizzed on his stance this week, Starmer said ‘On the biology, I agree with what Tony Blair said the other day, that a man has a penis and a woman has a vagina.’

Rosie Duffield subsequenly announced on "X" that henceforth she'll be submitting all comments to Blair so they can be de-toxified....

Nor me

Rosie Duffield is evil and a complete transphobe. I mean how very dare she have the heretic temerity to say that "women have cervixes". How can she possibly not be aware that men can also have cervixes.

JKR for PM.

Also in the team, Sharon Davies and Graham Linehan.

All power to them.

Honestly 10 years ago if people had said me in 10 years time there'd be controversy over a woman stating an immutable biological that the "only women have cervixes" I'd have said they needed their bumps felt...yet here we are!

biological *fact

Me too, Deskdiary.

Amazes me that JKR once donated £1million to Labour. More money than sense!

Excellent article by her in yesterday's Times - should be required reading by all in the trans lobby
