.....is "independence" now off the books?
Independence was their reason for being so given they've been decimated the Scottish people clearly do not want to be independent.
This result should put the argument to bed for many years to come.
What will be interesting to see is if Labour will allow money to be thrown around with gay abandon allowing Scottish university students to be educated for free, free prescriptions for everybody and all the other largesse the Nats provided at the expense of the English tax payer.
Maggiebee and anneasquith must be seething.
For the next two years, like it or not, the SNP are still in power in the Scottish parliament, so the UK government does not have complete control over how the Scottish budget is spent. Also, as many on AB are wont to point out, tax rates are higher in Scotland, which does some of the 'largesse' funding. And, check what proportion of the prescriptions dispensed in England is actually free - 89%.
"Now is the time when we must learn and we must listen. We must listen to what the people of Scotland tell us.
When you are knocked down you have to get back up.
And when you get back up you must be willing to inspire, you must be bold in your action and you must be committed to the values which you hold dear.
My colleagues and I who are returned to Westminster continue to put Scotland's interests first, to serve the people of Scotland and hopefully regain the trust that has been lost at this election."
Stephen Flynn, SNP Westminster leader.
Doesn't sound like someone who thinks the "dream" is over.
I'm not seething DD, just disappointed.
