Because it suits the narrative.....I bet loads of those who took to the streets would be surprised to find themselves 'smeared' as being (far) right-wing.Being concerned about what is happening in your locale does not a neo-nazi make.

because they are attacking muslims and migrants.

I have a more appropriate term to describe them, but AB won't let me say it.

14:56 and only right wingers are concerned about what's happening to our country?

Untitled, I don't ageee with what they're doing but that doesn't necessarily make them 'far right'.  The chances are they're just fed up with what's happening in this country.

They're tagged as far right because that is derogatory.

Some on here will say it's BBC bias, but if you have a look at the newspapers you'll find such left-wing bastions as the Telegraph, Express and Mail all saying right-wing.

They're being referred to as "far right" because that's what they are.

You can feel concerned about immigration but also have the self control not to go out attacking the police and rioting.

Perhaps "far right" isn't accurate. Maybe moronic thug is th correct term.

These riots are probably being funded by the outgoing Tory Party ..Right..... To try and discredit the New labour Govt .

The idea had occurred to me, Gulliver, who knows in these mixed-up days.

"You can feel concerned about immigration but also have the self control not to go out attacking the police and rioting."

Even in an ideal world, people can only be stubbornly ignored for so long before something has to give. It has and 'they' will just have to deal with it.

The answer is at the ballot box.

If you feel you've been stubbornly ignored - go out an protest. It's a basic inarguable and fundamental right.

The moment you start setting cars alight and attacking the police with bottles and bricks - you lose sympathy of the general public.

I feel for the poor homeowners and innocent shopkeepers who are in real fear for their safety right now.

Illegal immigration, unwanted immigration gulliver. Its going to be a big test for the new Labour government.I have said it before, whoever takes over from the Tories and the SNP has a poisoned chalice regarding these so called"refugees".

I believe they have been 'stoked' up by far right organisations but many involved will have no particular political leanings. Many will just see it as an excuse to get involved in blatant thuggery, burnig cars and buildings and looting. We should all hope for a week or two of downpours and thunderstorms. That will make them all stay at home.

In 5 years time & with both major parties impotent!

When people feel the gov can't cope with a situation some will feel emboldened to take direct action. I don't agree with, violence, looting and assaulting police but when you have no other voice...

...and what to do with these far right thugs!

That's going to be a massiv headache.

If the answer was at the ballot box life would be so simple but, politicians are liars, some even corrupt and doggedly refuse to deal with issues aggravating the public so temper flare as patience is exhausted.

Importing illegal immigrants on the one hand while spaffing billions out to their homelands is just one of the reasons for unrest.

Threre are plenty of things that we all feel strongly about - but we do not go out rioting.

You feel strongly about immigration don't you?

Do you feel the need to put on a balaclava and loot?

Don't get me wrong - I understand protest. But how is looting, setting fire to cars and shops and hurling bricks at the police protest?

Tell me how looting corner shops is going to change poltical discourse?

There should be no excuses and no equivocation.

If the major poltical parties are ignoring you - well that's how democracy works. Vote Reform...don't use violence.

You do that - you lose the argument.

To quote an AnswerBank veteren..."end of".

What has stopped you from donning a balaclava and looting a few shops in Sunderland?

My guess is that you understand the difference between legimate protest and sheer thuggery.

Yes?

Different strokes for different folks sp. I'm not happy with our (successive) governments performance on immigration but I'm a rather calm person generally. I appreciate that others may not be.

PS. If I'd been at the Home office the dinghies woulda been stopped in the first week and all this unpleasantness avoided!

I found it interesting that both before and after church service this morning, very peaceable individuals were saying that if it were not for the violence and 'thuggery' elements - they would be joining in protests.  This includes me, by the way.

@15.38.And the far left thugs in the pro-Hamas marches also sp.
