Chancellor Needs Help
https:/
It seems that the Chancellor needed to employ an accountant to help her complete her tax return. Can we trust somebody who needs this help, to manage the countries finances?

Wow! £1225 thats an eye watering amount :0) I can't remember ever seeing all this fuss being made in 2023 by ABs when Nadhim Zahawi got clobbered by the taxman with a penalty running into millions, for not keeping his accounts up to date regarding his offshore company. Strange that? :0)
The point I was trying to make is if over the last few years the Chancellor has been unable to understand how a self assessment tax form is completed, how on earth can she consider herself competent enough to manage the UK's finances. And if she does need to employ a tax consultant why should tax payers bear the cost of what shoule be a private arrangement.

However, David Whiscombe, an independent tax consultant, said: “I have great difficulty in seeing how preparation of a self-assessment tax return would not count as ‘personal accountancy or tax advice’. It should be no more difficult for an MP to file a tax return than for any other employee or office-holder.”
Mike Warburton, former tax director at accountancy firm Grant Thornton, added: “It is very important that these expense claims are carefully scrutinised.”
