Sorry not sure about category here.  I Put debit card in ATM outside Sainsburys today , and asked for cash.  Machine said couldn't pay out. Gave me my card back.  No receipt.  Would this show up as money being taken out, on my bank statement? Thanks all.

I'm not sure why it would? What amount would it show?

Did it give a reason? Insufficient funds in your account? Machine empty? Not working?

No. That usually happens when the machine is empty. If you didn't get any cash, nothing will show on your account.

Just to be clear, Bookbinder's link is mostly about if it processed the transaction but didn't give you money, whereas you say that it told you it could not proceed with transaction which is a bit different as noted in the last paragraph in the link.

The few times that I've experienced this, no money has been taken from my account.

I do however think these machines should be modified to issue paper evidence in such cases just as a precaution/reassurance.
