Of course, if you nipped out to the shops you could be prevented from crossing the cordon to get back in.
If you were injured, killed or became ill due to the effects of the sinkhole (drinking contaminated water, gas explosion) you (or your next of kin) would have no claim.
And just to add, during recent flooding in certain areas. A rescue fire officer said the main problem we have, and is one of the main reasons for loss of life is that people wont leave there homes when strongly advised to. When the floods do reach dangerous levels its makes it impossible for us to reach everyone in time.
