The idea that naughty Peter did it all by himself, and Nicola didn't have a clue what her husband was up to and what happened to the money that disappeared under her leadership, is possible but implausible - "not proven", as they say in Scotland ...

The police have made it clear she is no longer under investigation so it is not a case of, "not proven", she is not going to be charged, let alone have to go to trial.

In order for Ms Sturgeon to found 'not proven' her case would have had to go to court.

It hasn't, the police have decided that there is no charges to be made after the investigation.

Whilst I acknowledge that Ms Sturgeon will not face any charges, and that her soon-to-be-former husband is yet to be convicted of any offence, I can't quite believe that a spouse would be blindly ignorant of the fact that their partner was helping themselves to large dollops of cash not legally theirs.

I'm pretty sure I'd notice a sudden uptick in Mrs JtH's spending habits out-of-line with her salary.

Regardless of what some others might believe, the fact remains that Nicola Sturgeon faces no charges and no further investigations.

"Not proven" as in not proven to me that Nicola had nothing to do with it and that all the fault is Peter's ... 

The money has vanished, that's a fact. I look forward to the court case ...
