Is anyone sad that the whale in the thames has lost it's life.?

'This is in response to sheffwed39 I think it's extremely sad that it didn't make it back to the deeper waters regardless of where it was found. If it wasn't news then it shouldn't be on the news chanel.

It is so sad because with all the modern technoilogy we still cannot stand united against the forces of nature, no matter what our motive, will or incentive, look at the tsunami?

its very sad.i followed the rescue attempt for most of the day on sky news and was hopeful of a safe return.alas all the efforts were in vane but im sure everything that could be done was done and i applaud the efforts to everyone involved.

Yes,I admit,I was really sad to hear the bad news.On a positive note,maybe it'll make people more aware of these beautiful creatures,and so help the cause of stopping the dreadful slaughter of whales by Japan.

Very sad..must admit I had a tear in my eye for this beautiful creature.It must have been terribly distressed.
Why anyone would want to slaughter them is beyond me.

it is a sad issue but we,ve got no real idea on whales,they,ve been around a few million years than us.dont expect a human brain will phathom them.kind regards

Bernardo must be right... a whale in the Thames sounds a wonderful thing, but it really must mean that something has gone wrong. But people did their best to protect and help it.

Very sad that a magnificent creature lost it's life, but it also showed the simple humanity in a major city like London. Despite all the bad things we hear about our capital, it was good to see ordinary people offering help. As sen by the responses on this thread

I am sad in that a whale had to die outside its natural surroundings. But please for heavens sake lets not have a memorial or anyone leaving flowers with a stupid message like....WHY.....

I don't see much discussion. . . let's make it a discussion. The animal was foolish enough to swim into a river it couldn't get out of. Ergo it deserved to die. I didn't see it on the national media when my cat died, nor did I see a topic on the answerbank, nor did I see endless wailing and gnashing of teeth. Comments?

It's on AB because it is a topic of interest.The fact that your cat didn't make the news is because a cat is animal we see most days..They leave their mess in my garden.We don't often see whales.
This whale did not deserve to die as you so bluntly put it. It became separated from its pod which was spotted earlier in the Thames Estuary.It is very sad that such a beautiful animal as this which roams free in our oceans ended up like this.Lots of wild animals are becoming extinct .Hunted for their skins and their natural habitats destroyed by greedy mankind.Live and let live.

El D couldnt agree more.�50.000 to transport a whale in distress for how many hours?if you had treated a pet like that the rspca would have done you for cruelty.that is a lot of money wasted that could be used for human good as after all it is only an animal and one injection at the start would have saved suffering and money.dont expect the majority to agree as they are mostly townies whose experience of wildlife are the doos in trafalgar and the battery hens they eat
