Michael McCartney
I missed this thread until I saw it in the Editor's blog
The lady members seem to be unwilling to have their bottoms touched and I fully agree with them. What then is the difference with Michael McCartney and where did he expect the tempura prawns to be?

who said there was a difference? has anyone said it was okay for him to touch a girls bum? wouldn't matter who did it, its out of order
but he was cleared
older men have a habit of putting their hands on girls backs - it is annoying but its a 'protective' gesture and purely habit.
My dad does it to me, my sister and my mum, and he said its a way of showing the world that these girls have a protector, so not to try anything - which is is very patronising, but then my dad is 79 so from an era when that kind of thing was expected of men.
lots of young people do this too of course but it is very rarely a sexual thing.
it was likely an attempt at getting a big payout once they realised who he was
so what is the question?
He absolutely did not feel her up.
He went to her and altered the order and the put his hand on her back as a friendly gesture. He first had the Restaurant Manager coming to him with one story then the Manager with another story then the Police who didnt really have a clue what they were meant to be there for.
The point being it was thrown out but he was named and shamed but she wasnt. That is wrong.
On a personal note if - say I am in a pub or whatever and its busy and someone wants past and they put their hand on my back as they say excuse me then I find that polite.I would absolutely never find that offensive - I think its friendly and never in anyway sexual.
Now if they felt my boobs or lower down - I wouldnt have to get the police cos I would deal with it myself.
This was how the Daily Telegraph reported it. Women I know would find it unacceptable, although they would be better able to deal with it than a 16 year old girl.
Deborah Gould, prosecuting, said: "As the complainant was clearing the plates, the defendant approached her from behind, put the palm of his left hand on the top of her leg, slid it up her right buttock and left it there.
"He kept his hand on her bottom while he asked her if there was any tempura left."
