The Parliament is still considering the proposal of the Possession of Extreme Pornography Act. The motivation behind it is very logical, yet in its proposed form it is bound to do more damage than good.

It creates a hell of a lot of problems not only with what on Earth are we gonna do with all those who have been convicted, but also a threat of the much more serious Big Brother problem where our private lives are being controlled and the consensual activity in the bedroom is regulated.

What are your opinions on the subject?

Out of curiousity, what exactly is going to be classed as extreme pornography? Are there going to be guidelines to what is and isn't extreme?

This law is designed to deal with the extreme material featuring adults.

"By extreme we [the Home Office] mean material which is violent and abusive, featuring activities which are illegal in themselves and where, in some cases, participants may have been the victims of criminal offences. We believe most people would find this material abhorrent."

Unfortunately the Law in this country does not recognise consensual types of violence, apart from medical interference, contact sports, professional tattoos/body modifications, and certain forms of ABH. This means that images of say consensual S&M bondage etc will be illegal and you can get prosecuted for it. But does that mean that sports like Martial Arts should be banned? What about medical sites and their picture galleries of operations, or Forensic sites with the crime scene pics?
