You are virtually saying those who hold a separate opinion to you are wrong. Please read my comments again.
"I'd be surprised if they fined a guy 50 for putting one envelope in a dustbin in a town centre for example, but I wouldn't be surprised if he had been dumping bags of household rubbish at a leisure centre or something, and the press and omitted a few details."
With all due respect Drisgirl, I was not there I do not know if the man dumped bags and bags of domestic refuse and they traced him via one junk mail letter, or whether he actually only dumped one envelope, and you were not there either so we are going by what the media says. I am stating what I believe, you are stating what you say you know, and you don't know for absolute certain.
Do you really honestly believe that the Council would wastetime, money and resources trying to track a guy who dumped one letter?
And fly tipping is not just fridges and suites, that is bulk rubbish collection (as I said I actually work for the local council). Fly tipping is when refuse is dumped in an area where it shouldn't be i.e. gardening waste to be collected on a Monday with your household refuse, domestic waste in specified collection areas and not next to public bins.
Councils spend vast amounts of money getting collection routes right. A bin man has a set route every day of every week, most households have their refuse collected weekly whereas most parks/ shopping centres/ leisure centres have their bins emptied every few days/ weekly dependant on the need.
What would happen if I started dumping my household refuse in the bins at the local shops? Within a few days they would be overflowing and attracing vermin, but the collection wouldn't be due for another week. That would then be extra work and cost for the Council, and not just the cost of the wages but of the petrol, the vehicle, the replacement bags, etc at the shops.
Wow Nat you needed all that space.I'm impressed.
If I were rude and aggressive (?) guilty as charged.
If I gave an opposing view on AB (without slagging anyone or swearing at them) shock horror.
Where I live fly tipping is dumping rubbish other than at a recognised site ie a skip or bin.
Hope that wasnt too rude or agressive for your gentle dispostion.
Take care now x
Fat Boy - Im so glad you crawled from under your stone as well.If my memory serves me you were a very rude boy and were suitably chastised for it.
Now both of you go away and do some colouring in or something - something which doesnt tax your brain too much:)
Now I am very sorry for upsetting both of you for my behaviour and as we speak my husband is spanking me soundly.Happy now?
Its not your opinions. its the way you talk to people. Or as you put it yourself, talk at people.
Also, you said to me that your opinions were based on facts. Yet you propose to tell Natalie, who is a council worker & knows the correct definition of fly-tipping, that your definition of fly-tipping is correct and she is wrong.
Like she said, as far as you're concerned if anyone disagrees with your 'opinion' they're wrong. Even if they have the facts and you don't. You wouldn't be the sort of person to argue that black is white, would you..?
