Tom Cruises fiancee is to give birth under a vow of silence (impossible) in order to adhere to his Scientology beliefs.

Now - on here we discuss PC gone AWOL re Muslims etc but no-one has brought this subject up.

Surely in this day and age this would be barbaric to expect a woman to give birth silently with placards surrounding her reminding her - yet we are obsessed with Baa Baa Black sheep and Blackboards and Whiteboards.

Poles apart maybe but religion unites them.- or does it?

Which belief given what you know do you believe is actually true - bizarre as they both sound?

I know what I believe.

Nox, I may be wrong, but I thought JamesEverton was just asking for clarification on where Drisgirl had got her information?

The only direct quote from Tom Cruise I'm aware of is the one posted by James himself. Which obviously doesn't tie in with the media sensationalism, which although partially justified, has clearly gotten a touch hysterical to say the least.

'Complete nut job, totally and utterly brainwashed' etc.

We may disagree with the tenants of their religion, but they are both adults and it is consensual, harming no one. I don't see the big deal.

BTW I got the impression James was just trying to balance the fact from the fiction, so maybe the criticism being directed his way is a little over the top?

If you choose to read all the posts Stevie you will find that most posts are of the same consensus.

Stevie - please do me a wee favour and stop paraphrasing me.I am not the only person who proferred a personal opinion on Cruise. Please - do stop picking through my posts as that is the reason I took time out before.I like you and get on fine with you but you are baiting me and I dont like it.Everytime I post you pick through it and its just not funny anymore. Can we not just go back to what we were like before?I was certainly not being hysterical - I just gave an honest personal opinion.

James - I cant provide you with his voice and I'm not being fasectious All Nox and I were doing was trying to point you in the direction of the indoctrination we have all been aware of - probably for years and are now astounded that they would appear to be consenting to the silent birth and potentially (I dont know) not talking to the baby for 7 days.

I am sorry James if you felt unfairly critisiced but it wasnt intended.

Please bear in mind my previous comment - Cruise sues at will if he has been misquoted - Fact!

Neti - I wonder myself if he was at the conception - see one of my first posts - just a gut instinct.

Having just read "Cruise sues at will" I'm not saying another word, but I can keep thinking...........
Question Author
Neti-please elaborate or am I on the right track??

Got it - what a thicko.

Dont worry we're all comfortably behind our user names.Yours doesnt give you away at all - dont worry:)

Dris, I don't feel like I've been criticised at all. I'm just trying to make the point that you are making assumptions and criticisms about something specific whilst knowing very little about it.

I'm fully aware of the fact that Scientology is a botched up pseudo-religion that brainwashes the feeble-minded. However, the opinions, of some of the contributors, specifically to the impending birth of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes's child and the conditions under which they plan to have that birth, are based only on gossip, conjecture and tittle tattle. You seem to be suggesting that it is barbaric. It's ironic that people lambast Cruise for being brainwashed but are happy to regurgitate whatever rubbish they have unquestioningly picked up from the trash media.

Question Author

James -thanks for your contribution and a debate would not be balanced if we all felt the same.

Stevie inferred you were being criticised - sorry:)

I do understand where you are at because its natural to be suspicious of the press etc but if you like me and others have a mind set it takes a lot to change it:)

Dris are you a 'hoaxer'.

Question Author
Stevie - are you having a laugh.Just cos I'm being sensible?

I think JamesEverton makes a good point, but does it really matter? It seems to me that that is what celebrities are for - to judge and admire or ridicule based hear say from gossip columns. It dosen't seem to hurt anyone.

I generally don't keep up with what celebrities do, but I found this thread interesting. Tom Cruise does seem to be a wierd guy. I would really like to see the South Park episode on Scientology. Apparently, Tom Cruise didn't like it one bit.

Newtron - I would be interested also. Was it aired here?

I'll go and have a look see.

Question Author

Newtron - looks like it has just been aired in the US .I googled it and read tons of comments on it but for the life of me I cant download the episode.(no great surprise there-I cant even do links). It looks like TC is trying or has succeeeded in taking it off the air on Mar 17 as he threatened not to promote MI3 if they didnt.

You can read if for youself if you just put in South Park -Scientology on google.Sorry for being sooo dinasourish but the technical side escapes me.

My son is hopefully graduating with honours in Computing Science and Engineering in July so out the kindness of my heart I gave him all my technical brains.Well thats what mums are for:)

Thanks Drisgirl. I'll have to check it out.
Scientology is evil..I know cos I used to be one of them..
It's a pretty good episode - Tom Cruise might have been offended by it not only for it's mocking of Scientology, but the fact he becomes trapped in Stan's wardrobe, so for most of the episode the residents, and Nicole Kidman too, keeps pestering him to "come out of the closet"
