Why can't the media lay off the englande football team?

Why can't the media especially the newspapers leave our boys alone ,here they are getting ready after footy season to lead our country out in the world cup yet the papers are not backing them they just seem to be stressing them out ?we should be getting behind them .

The media is owned by an Australian(Rupert Murdoch),The Government and BBC are controlled by the Scots.and the royal family is German.

I think the papers were desperate to get this settled for fear all the players would boycott them during the world cup and they wouldn't get any stories.

i dont beleive for a minute that because the government and the bbc are controlled by the scots(allegedly) that there is no backing for the england team!!! all we hear about up here is constant references to 1966, and the rugby a couple of yrs ago, and the world cup for this year..(all english broadcasts)....funny how when you lost the rugby this year we didnt hear anything about it!!!

I didnt hear anyone complaining when the rest of the UK got 1966 rammed down our throats at every opportunity for 40 years - so what exactly is the problem? Some of the players even got Knighthoods for doing their job - pathetic.

Even your Rugby World Cup Champs were overshadowed by constant references to 1966 - and I was behind them 100%.

Its got nothing to do with Rupert Murdoch or Scots controlling the media or the Royals being Germans.

Smacks of lets get our excuses in as soon as possible!

I wont support the England team - couldnt bear another 40 yrs of nonsence.

inej, I do agree thit it is awful the way the media treat these young men who are trying to do their best for their country, but what are you going to do?

On a cheerier note, however, isn't it fortunate that these same young men have the finances to hire the best legal minds in the country to defend them?

How would an average working person fare under the same circumstances?

Yes I do have an inferiority complex,its a result of 25 years as a season ticket holder at West Bromwich Albion.

I also have a sense of humour,which has sadly bypassed some of you bankers.

Dris, I can tell you that I first went to the "tattie howkin') in 1953 in Ayrshire.

I'm just wondering if the time has come to tell the world of our (almost complete ) plan to take over Answerbank.

Trying to keep up with that tractor and how come the gaffer who measured oot your bit had longer legs than the rest.I did it in the late sixties and dont recall going more than 2 yrs running.Pies were great at piecetime tho:).

I see your point about them being paid too much money, but people always seem to to have a downer on England (britian ) can't we just back our boys ,back our country for a change and be proud of where we live, the world cup shoud be something to look forward to .

inej - its a fact - England wouldnt support Scotland and vice versa - in football.

Commonwealth Games - I was cheering on all the home countries if they werent up against Scotland of course.

Rugby - I thought when Johnny Wilkinson kicked that drop kick - it was ace

Cricket - I dont understand it but I thought Freddy Flintoffs bender was a blinder.

Just dont expect us to support you at the World Cup - (blame Motson and all his side-kicks for all their wee jibes over the years towards Scotland).I have said before and will say it again (sound like Rab C Nesbitt now:)) - we have a population of 5m compared with 55m in England.All in all we dont do too bad!!

Drisgirl i agree with a lot of what you said , But when the world cups on i support all the british teams that are in. I just think we should give these guys a break , yes they do get paid alot of money and are pampered but i think we should give them some encouragement , it must be a bit disheartning for them when all they have is negative press .

Ps One of my favourite liverpool players is a scot the lovely kenny dalgliesh lol
