Why oh why do they let paedophiles back on the street?

This may cause controversy but how i feel , why do they let paedophiles back on the streets? Why don't they (government) buy land and fence them all in . These people will never change they just mix with others and get worse Why don't we test all the new drugs on them i personally don't care if anything did happen to someone who abuses kids . What are your views ?

TOTALLY AGREE,the law doesnt allow them to be locked up for life but moves to change this are ongoing.this is not a medical condition they have its a perverted calculated mentality,castration for them.

Yes smudge makes my blood boil, these people can never change , medical treatment won't help them. I say never let them out . There should be a petition for people to have there say , the law is an ass.

Not only in the case of paedophiles, but in all criminal sentences, the law is wrong. The Government is always changing the MAXIMUM sentences (which no-one ever gets). It is the MINIMUM sentence which needs to be increased. But I agree that castration should be a MUST.

Whenever I see these posts, I still would like to ask those in favour of castration / torture etc the following questions:

What do you define as a paedophile (including age)

And some for instances for you:

Should a 16 year old boy who has sex with a 15 year old girl be castrated?

Should a Spanish man who has sex with a 13 year old girl be tested on?

In this country, both are illegal and the people concerned would be classed as paedophiles. Most people wouldn't have a problem with the former, and with regard the second example, the age of consent in Spain is 13.

I am NOT for one minute suggesting that sex with a 9 year old is acceptable behaviour, and I do agree that SOME sentancing can be to lenient - HOWEVER, rather than making bland, popularist statements, why not actually try to think through a problem and suggest practical answers (torture is not really a sensible way forward imho).

As much as I hate the current administration you can't directly blame Blair for this. Essentially the legal mechanism to lock them up permanently does not yet exist. However I think moves are afoot to correct this situation. Hopefully then they can be detained under some sort of "mental illness" heading.

Hello to all, o.e.v, you ask for definition of a paedophile and whether a 16 yr old boy having sex with a 15 yr old girl is classed as paedophelic tendancy. Was it rape? would be the first question with that senario, and then of course if it was rape then perhaps extra charges are brought.

i dont know the law on paedophiles and ages, it should be any child under 16 yrs but we tend to read about kids being raped and tortured by these 'things' and they are usually under 13.

Spanish law has nothing to do with this particular case.

Now, on the news, it was said he'd be put away indefinately, and then in the nxt sentance, that was 5yrs and 7 mnths..... how is that indefinately?

Why should this 'thing' be even allowed to live? again, a young life is now destroyed, she has a life sentance... he still breathes....

I HATE PAEDOPHILES, so for me, a practical answer is to put them down.

unfortunately, we do not have the death sentance. So life behind bars, with no t.v after 3 yrs, no carpet after 3 yrs, no anything, except the very basic. That would be food and water and a toilet.

I have zero sympathy for anyone who thinks he should get more.

I agree that sentences seem to be too lenient, but do you really think that fencing them off together is going to stop it? Do you not think they may move elsewhere? They are born the same way you and I are and there is no stopping that behaviour.

Ok, I haven't read the story of the bloke who "repeatedly raped" a 9 year old girl, but who said that she was repeatedly raped? Who is to say that it wasn't "inappropriate behaviour" that the press got hold of and changed. Some people are so quick to judge, when none of you were actually there and seem to be believing word for word what is published.

I have had to deal with these disgusting nonce b*stards and the reaction you lot are giving "they should be castrated, etc etc" is exactly what they want.

I also know a 18 year old who was put on the sex offenders register for 5 years because his 15 year old girlfriend told him she was 17. Beryllium, it doesn't have to be rape to get on the sex offenders list.

Also there was case locally where a 26 year old man was arrested for 'interfering' with his 3 year old daughter - it turned out she had chicken pox and that was why she was sore down there. Still, people always remember him for one reason only and it's not chicken pox.

These cases are never cut and dried, and you can't tar everyone with the same brush. What about a person who was abused by their parents from birth? What if somebody doesn't actually realise that it is wrong to have sexual relations with their, or other people's, children? Don't you think that is slightly different to a 45 year old abducting a 6 six old child and raping him/ her?

It's easy to get angry about these things, and if a child of mine was ever abused in any way I am not denying that I would want to kill the sick b*stard, but it doesn't mean that I am right.

I was visiting family in Plymouth last Summer and we bumped into my cousins friend while out walking, Anyway, we stopped to chat, and were having a laugh and a giggle like girls do when a police car came up with his lights flashing and stopped next to us!! We were prompted to move on and told we would be in trouble if we didn't and be prosecuted for harassment!! Turns out we were stood right in front of a peadophiles house, and cause there'd been a lot of trouble with people bricking in his windows etc he'd called the police saying we were behavinh menacingly, and they came and protected him. We were innocent bystanders!!! I was stunned!!!
