A four-year-old boy was left in a pool of blood with part of his ear hanging off after he was tied to tree and battered with a brick.
Relatives of Charlie Davis believe he could have been killed by a youth who dragged him off as he played near his home in Hull.
Mother Susan Davis was by her son's hospital bed waiting to see whether the youngster has suffered a fractured skull in the incident.
Traumatised Charlie is expected to have plastic surgery to repair his damaged ear.

Mrs Davis
said her son was playing near his home in the Hessle area of the city when he was snatched by a local youth, pulled 200 yards along a path and tied to a tree by a railway line.
He was discovered in a pool of blood by a passing couple.

Mrs Davis told the Yorkshire Post the family has been left in shock by the incident and were now waiting in hospital for scan results.

Charlie's 18-year-old sister Sammy described how the couple who found him carried him back covered in blood.

She said her brother was so frightened by his ordeal he still cannot speak about it.

Humberside Police has described the attack as "totally unprovoked" and "particularly nasty".

What kind of sick individual does that to a 4 year old boy let alone to another human being?,i hope they catch this youth.

if they do catch him, you can almost put money on him getting no punishment.
OMG that is just terrible!! That poor boy, it is just beyond belief that there are sicko's out there that would do this!
Thank god he was found alive, I just hope he can rebuild some sort of life after this.
Hope the ******* that did this rots in hell.
Yeah, he'll blame it on his deprived and unstable background or something.

It's just so sad that for every one like him, there's a dozen or more thoroughly decent youngsters out there who get the flack from what he's done.
Thats just disgusting - its like Jamie Bulger all over again...
I dont think death penalties for people like this...i think whatever sick attacks one does to an individual- should be done to them daily whilst locked in a cell for LIFE... people do this stuff because there is next to no punishment...maybe if punishments were tounghened up abit people would be too scared to commit crimes...
How anybody can harm a child is beyond my comprehension and I hope the police capture this evil person quickly. Sadly, I doubt our lenient judicial system will deal with him appropriately.
It truly is awful. Unfortunately, a 4 yrs old child should not be let out of sight of the parent or carer even if playing nearby. It is a sad reflection of our times.
I totally agree with Le chat, i think this is disgusting as what has been done but where the hell were the parents?he was obviously playing out in the street on his own at four years old!!! My little brother is 4 years old (big age gap i know im 21) and he is not allowed out of my mums sight at any time, and most certainly not allowed to play on the streets - maybe my mums over protective but the thing is you have to be these days...
The last two replies are spot on. There is always a common element to these types of appalling crimes. The victims are always unsupervised and usually alone. Even when a child is playing with other children they remain vulnerable to danger and harm.

These dangerous psycho's are out there all day and every day. They wait for opportunities to strike and when they get them, they don't hesitate. Best defence? Never give the ******** the chance?

unfortunatly mushroom is 100% on the money.
i belive that nothing will happen too. sorry.
i have neighbours who have children as and we have a wire fence that abels their son who is 3yrs old to put his hand through and grab my 1yr old daughter round the scruff of bite or scratch her and he knows what hes doing because he looks at you to see if you can see . i would con front his parents but violence may ensue. nobody wants to belive that child violence is a problem because if they did they would aknowledge it i dont belive nobody shud get away with a crime no matter the age. if i was drunk and commited a crime id exspect to be punished even tho i was not sound of mind i did the crime.. its not the victims fault its the offender..
The poor victim's parents should be locked up for negligence, but no doubt they will blame everyone else but themselves.
thats exactly right derekpara!
It's a travesty that, when(and if) the perpetrator is caught and convicted,we cannot hang him(preferably after a severe flogging)

By the way--what kind of sick individuals blames the parents without knowing all the details?

Most parents do not know where their children are every second of the day.
I am just glad the poor little mite survived, I doubt the scum who did it will get much punishment, the justice system in this country has gone to pot!!

As for this statement searchme 'Most parents do not know where their children are every second of the day. '

I for one always knew where my son was when he was four, I still do now that he's 11 but then I'm always being called over protective, but I'd rather be over protective than in the situation these parents find themselves in!!
Kate1976-I was making a sandwich for my two yrs. old grandson the other day.

In less than a minute, and while my back was turned, he had unchained the front door(!!)and reached the (locked) garden gate.

I (frantic Grandad) retrieved him and brought him back into the house, grateful that some twisted pervert had not reached over the gate and made off with him.

Are you seriously telling me that nothing similar ever happened with your boy?
I can honestly say hand on heart that nothing like that has ever happened to me searchme, I guess I've just been lucky!

I'm glad your grandson was safe!
So am I Kate- and thankyou-but would I have been the guilty party if something had happened?

The point is, we seem to be always ready to blame the victim( if she hadn't worn that short skirt she wouldn't have been raped).

My grandson, your son-everybody and their children should be able to walk the streets of this country unmolested.

Let's start seriously punishing the Barstewards who are making us so paranoid.
Please don't think I'm judging the parents, I know for a fact that kids can be slippery sods at times and as I've said I guess I've just been lucky that I've never had a scare with my son, there's still time for that though with the dreaded teens looming, eek!!

I agree that people do look for people to blame, sometimes pointing the blame at the wrong person entirely and the punisments that most of the scumbags that commit these vile crimes get are lame!

I wish we could walk safely down the streets but I doubt that dream society will ever become reality!
Well perhaps if they catch the perpetrator and he goes to jail ,he'll be given a cell of his own,a TV,Computer and rehabilitating courses etc.etc. he'll realise how naughty he was and he'll never do anything like that again .Mission accomplished, one reformed criminal in the making.Oh by the way ,pigs will start flying when and if this happens . Flog the Bast**d to death.
The police have said they are not sure that the child was tied to a tree or was abducted and are currently keeping open minds.

As an aside, isn't it funny that so many of the answerbankers would like to see punishments meted out to criminals that are equally as violent and inventive as those that can be implemented under Sharia law, yet take every opportunity to rant about how barbaric Muslims are..?

Double standards? Shurley shome mishtake...
