How about if there was an airline who didn't have to have extra security checks (Ryanair anyone?) and everyone who was opposed to the extra checks and regulations could fly on it?

then it would become TerrorAir, the preferred airline of Al-Qaeda. Mad bombers would get on a plane (using their suicide bombs to elbow their way through the queues), seize it in midair and fly it straight into the side of passing BA flights, making sure the wreckage fell onto densely populated urban areas.

There might be a downside to all this. The upside would be cheap fares.

As I understand it, the airlines didn't complain about the fact of extra security checks, but about the inability of BAA and the security services to carry them out efficiently
