Possibly, but not to the extent they have been. It seemed way over the top to me. What about their rights?

It's not as if they refused to go and rescue someone because they were gay, and I don't imagine for a moment they would so refuse.

In A Pickle, Why on earth would you not like to be seen as normal?
Ecoman - He said he did not want to be seen as hetrosexual
Your point is?
I think you've made the point perfectly well, ecoman.

It's a point about you and not In A Pickle, admittedly, but made extremely eloquently. You couldn't have made it better if you had a brain.
ecoman

You would have to go to a much finer granularity to define 'normal'. I mean, we've all met heterosexuals whom we wouldn't define as 'normal'.

it prooves they are also racist
No they should not have been disciplined, infringement on human rights.
Why racist?
Which of the Articles in the European Convention on Human Rights do you suggest their employer's action contravened, ICEMANSAV?
As far as I can tell, they have a professional duty to offer fire safety advice to all and everyone, but I can see why they may feel uncomfortable going on a gay pride march. If they refused to deal with *anyone* gay in *any* circumstances - even someone who just popped in to ask about fire alarms or whatever - then fair enough to be criticised for it, but it seems a bit unfair in this case.

As In A Pickle says above though, the Bishop taking it upon himself to get involved does neither the firemen or the church any favours.
Well in a way JudgeJ by making straight people opposed / threatened by homosexuality partake in an activity for that sexual preference. Section 1 article 4.
or 8 depending on which layout you receive
one of the firemen in question actually ASKED his priest to get involved, and wanted him to state that the fireman objected on MORAL grounds. Sheds a slightly different light on the churches involvement I think.
why do they have the march anyway.

I dont go on marches to say Im straight
I don't believe they had to March, just hand out leaflets AT a March about, Fire Prevention which is part of their job, so yeah they should have done it and were bigoted and stupid to have refused. It's now been whipped up into a big storm because they were in the wrong, realised it and are basically stuffed, so they obviously thought they'd create a "political correctness gone mad" scenario and make it look as if they were victimised. I have absolutely zero sympathy for them as they are clearly homophobic and trying to make a big deal and wheedle out of their bad behaviour by implying that people might have thought they were gay. What a whole firestation full of firemen? Yeah well that's likely isn't it? Absurd.
i will bet these guys if at a fire they would do there job without any thought of sexual prefrence it s another rights of the majorty getting pushed out for the minorty
In my opinion, it was foolish of them to refuse to hand out leaflets, that was about community safety etc. Part of their job really, it just happened to be at a gay carnival.

Getting sent off for "diversity training" sounds a bit over the top though.
