A couple of months ago they got rid of all the stalls along the pathways, and started charging people to go in....this put a lot of people off, so they must have lost a huge amount of visitors.
Apparantly the MP for Southport is trying to get local businessmen to buy it.

I mean look at Whitley Bay - once the jewel in the crown of the North East coastline. Now it looks like a derelict has-been, shutters and boards have replaced the once glittery amusement arcades and cafes. Even the Spanish City as sung about by Dire Straits has been pulled down. Everyone holidays abroad now, better weather and cheaper. People aren't mugs.
im sorry but i don't care wht any of you say because southport was a beast no matter what rides were there! the point was it was filled with all of my memories both young and teenage! i had my first proper relationship there and im proper gutted its gone, it was the only thing keeping us out and about there is nothing at all to do now! and it was amazingly good!!!
