Muslims and the Pope
Ok, i'm ready for any abuse that comes my way but this is a genuine question. Why is the muslim community, (not all of them i know) up in arms about what the pope said. It seems to me they are constantly looking to say so and so is racist etc. They seem to have adapted a real 'woe is me' mentality. And are bringing more publicity to what the Pope said. Now we all know about it. I for one wouldn't of had a clue if they hadn't made such a big deal of it. Or am I just being insensitive. I apologise now because i'm bound to upset someone with this!

No worries I will safely stay put in my London home just like everyone else and reflect on all these scare mongering tactics that is going on about muslims at the moment. Let's face it once the media focuses on something else the steam will come off this topic as I'm sure something else will become the centre of attention.

So according to Doggy, I get all my ideas and thoughts from the DM, some, yes, but I watch the news, Sky, BBC, CNN, I get the DM delivered, but I also read others.
As far as Muslim women having their heads covered, I have no problem with that, so long as, in certain circumstances, they have no objection to uncovering.

keyvan. Do you realize that by your implication that you are not religious you are stating that there is no such thing as god(nothing wrong in that). However because you state this you are in Islamic eyes a blasphemer a la Salman Rushdie.
How ironic that you show support for the very same people who would condemn you out of hand for your beliefs.

I'm just as offended as admarlow when I see these "British" muslims with their placards demanding beheadings in the streets of Britain. Where can I apply for recongnition that I have been offended?....who will take up my case?....or is it taboo to even suggest it?
I saw some Imam giving a speech on tv lately..he said they were not European muslims, but muslims in Europe. Says a lot to me!
I, for one, am fed up with walking on eggshells because I'm told to.

muslim minorities around the world have created havoc re the danish cartoons and now the popes speech.in context these were minor spats against islam.
compare these versus the most defiled religious leader ever, namely jesus christ.
the list is endless with bad taste jokes and films.
the life of brian comes to mind.
if christians had reacted to these flagrant obsenities on a par to some muslim reactions we would be in the middle of ww3. like it or not its called freedom of speech.

parkesquay, let me reiterate my position. I'm not a religious person. However, I do believe that there's a god.
I just don't think that all muslims are extremists and agree that we shouldn't alienate all of them just because a minority of them are fanatics. But there are extremists in all branches of religion. As a non religious person I have a respect for all the religions and people of all faiths and will never stoop to a level of mockery to prove a point. Unfortunately, the heated debates here sometimes ends up in rants rather than looking at things rationally.

I am also an atheist but people are free to believe what they want. I'm not bothered about whether they condemn me for it. I am bored by EVERYONE, not just muslims, being offended by everything. It's so tedious, just shut up and get on with it. I don't care if I offend anyone and I don't get offended by randoms who are meaningless to me.
