when your country is under military/emergency rule and the army has taken over...you dont visit your daughter in the Uk.

maybe we got 2 for the price of 1.
It beats dodging a tank 'though !
...unless the King has given his approval to the leader of the coup and it has the support of the massive majority of the population and it's abundantly obvious that you'll be arrested as soon as you try and enter the country, in which case I think you probably do, actually.
No, the USA probably threw him out.
The Army has said Taksin is welcome to return, but may face a corruption probe. A number of Cabinet Ministers have also been similarly warned.

Taksin bought a multi million pound house in London recently, and was generally assumed to be transfering assets out of Thailand as the writing was on the wall (although he was the last to read it).

If his contribution to UK society is the same as to Thailand, he will cause nothing but trouble.
He currently have a 3 months visa but is also welcome to apply for political asylum, I think he will move to Singapore, he has a lot of family and connections there, and the coup was sucessful as it was backed by the highly regarded monach.
I should hope we would offer sanctuary to a democratically elected leader who has been overthrown by a military coup.

I am very concerned when unelected generals console people by stating 'THEY' will appoint a new leader within two weeks after 'THEY' have made changes to the constitution of Thailand.

The leaders of military coups have a tendency to get a little too comfortable with power and usually find 'reasonable' excuses for staying put. I hope this doesn't prove to be the case in Thailand, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
I think it will be a little bit different in Thailand due to the power of the King.
