What the heck is going on with this sudden spate of serious incidents. Weren't the first two horrific occurances enough to make people think a bit harder about their responsabilitys as a dog owner ?

The attack on the 14 month old boy happened in my village, less than half a mile from where I live - no Burberry or tracksuits tucked inside socks round here, thanks very much, although we do have a few snooty types with very little between their ears. Dogs such as rottweilers always have a possibility of turning vicious - they can't help it, it's part of their genetic make-up. Even one that has been docile for years can suddenly turn. They were never meant to be cuddly family pets, and the sooner people realise this the better.
ward-minter, you said in another thread that you have no love in your life, well read some of you answers and you will see why. [edited by ABED]
So what is a peasant? Because I was brought up on a council estate and I then bought my own house and I have never in my life met or spoken to anybody from as low down in the gutter as yourself, god help you!!
Wardy, it is not just the people you so rudely call 'peasants' who don't train their dogs and whose dogs then attack. I live in the country and friends of mine used to have a lovely manor house just up the road from me. He was a Prince and very educated and wealthy indeed. Their large English Sheepdog however was a nightmare! He bit another neighbour's bum rather badly when that neighbour (a retired police officer) and I were looking after the house and the dogs while my friends were away on holiday.

I think it would be good if we had a dog licencing scheme here. In Germany you have to have a licence to keep your dog and it is an offence if you do not have your dog vaccinated. The licence tag has to be on the dog's collar at all times. If a dog is found to be dangerous it can be easily tracked to the owners and where necessary put down. I think the licence should come with a compulsory basic dog training class, which should be offered at low cost or even free if poss. If we create more responsible owners, we won't have so many of these terrifying attacks.
Oh and moutainboo, thanks for that lovely story, It was an Irish Wolfhound that had protected this child. I have had three and they are amazing companions.

and ratter if he winds you up try to ignore it too. You ever thought maybe he is after this reaction? If it is him just being honest then that is surely his own opinion. Lets have a good Friday :-)
Ok, wardy lol, I wont say anymore, I can see what its doing to you, lol Byeeeeeeeeeeeee

Sorry all for hijacking the thread, but sometimes I need to vent my spleen at fools such as wardy who think that anybody who doesn't live in a private house is scum and suffered poverty. Sad I know!! anyway sorry again.

wardy, The only thing you have said that offends me on a personal level is I may get violent, I will never get violent, I despise violence, I have not had one single outburst of violence in my life.

I'm so sorry if I have upset you Wardy.
