Multiculturalism/Race Relations

I know that there have been numerous threads in this section recently regarding Muslims, Islam, Terrorism and the Veil etc. This is obviously a reflection of the heavy media coverage of these issues. These questions always produce strong opions on both sides, often deteriorating to the point of a slanging match between "racists" and "liberals".

To clear the water somewhat I thought it would be interesting to ask for peoples thoughts about Multiculturalism and Race Relations in todays Britiain, with the exception of Muslims. I want to focus this thread on the other groups for example the Chinese, Indians, Jamaicans, Africans and West Indians amongst many more. Do you feel that multiculturalism is working and what impact is it having? Remember no references to muslims, terrorism or the veil etc.

My personal opinion is that multi-culturalism is working although their is still work to be done. Overall I feel that it has enriched the fabric of our society and I enjoy the diversity. I also feel that multi-culturalism has provided many economic benefits.

Admarlow, I did not call you a racist, I'm just saying that's how you come across. The comments you are making have no credibility because all you are doing is bashing non-whites, and ignoring all the other information rather than putting forward any kind of balanced argument. This is why you come across as a racist. I'm not saying that multi-culturalism is perfect it does need work but please try and consider all the facts. I could almost hear the joy in your post when you found a statistic that showed non-white immigrants in a bad light.

See, you are doing it again. The report states that immigrants are more highly educated yet you choose to believe the point that supports your own argument but dispute my point, even though they are from the same report!! Pretty much any leading economist will point out that immigration has had a positive impact on our economy and there is a wealth of information about this on the net, however you also choose to ignore this.

I said in the question that I did not wish for this to become another "racists" and "liberals" thread. Therefore I kindly ask you to leave this thread. I would also encourage the other members not to respond to any more of your comments on this subject.

fingerprint, I never EVER said I had a problem with multiculturalism, as anyone reading this thread can see, so that is a bare faced lie. My only point is that education level of a immagrant is a ''claimed behaviour'' i.e. they can't prove it and it is in their interest to lie. Now employment is not a claimed behaviour, its a hard fact and therefore can't be faked. So although both statistics come from the same report they are at odds with one another and one is more reliable than the other. As for the bnp thing, what is that all about, advertising is banned on posts on AB.
