As an upright, Christian, law-abiding citizen, if there's one thing that annoys me more than speed cameras as an infringement of our civil liberties and traditional English way of life, it is these do-gooders. Why shouldn't I celebrate the subjugation and torture of those damn Catholics every November 5th?

It isn't called bonfire night anymore, as most places don't seem to have bonfires. It is Firework Night...shame really, as I used to participate in 'penny for the guy' when I was a kid.
Funnily enough this is the first time in years that we haven't heard fireworks for weeks before..just have to see whether it carries on for weeks afterwards!
Regarding the Q, it hasn't been replaced in my area and have to say this pleases me. As much as I embrace different cultures & religions, I would prefer this to be left alone.

Well, who needs the Christian ideas behind Easter, when we can count on some farcical local government to come along and either ban it, rename it or worse. Heaven forbid that we upset some religion, creed or race...actually that probabaly shouldn't read 'Heaven'....does anyone know the PC multi-cultural term??????
Thank you for that NH.
I have advised my sister that I will not be attending Christmas at her's unless she becomes more PC. I have suggested a palm tree instead of the traditional Fir tree, this will please numerous nationalities African/Asian/Middle East/Caribbean) & also to replace any angels/fairies/stars with Lakshmi! We obviously cannot eat Turkey for dinner, as they haven't made it into the EU yet, so a substitution of Kaczka z jabłkami (baked duck in apple) will appease the Polish.
