wheres all the poppies?
I have seen people on TV wearing them and by now I would have been sporting a poppy with pride but...
I haven't seen a single person selling them, I would gladly do it myself! is it just a case of getting them from the legion?
I think the should be compulsory in Britain!
I'd like to see everyone showing respect to those who fought for this great country we ALL live in!!

Poppy sellers are members of the Royal British Legion. How many RBL members do you know ? Not many, I expect. Membership is in rapid decline and that's the reason you may have difficulty in buying poppies. Just for the record, you do not have to be ex-service to join the RBL so if you feel that strongly about it and want to support a great charity and a truly British institution that does tremendous work for ex-service personnel, then join your local RBL branch. Then you can even volunteer to sell poppies yourself next year !
Oh, I'm off to Ypres as usual this week to pay my respects to all those who died in The Great War, and to participate in the ceremonies at the Menin Gate. Did you know that the Last Post has been played there every evening without fail for the last eighty years ? WW2 excluded , of course.

Eastender- you say "never forget"- in which case why forget why WW1 was fought? It's all very well respecting those who served their country, but why don't we ever consider why they were there?
The government of the time sent over 900,000 men to their deaths for a futile cause, in an event more horrific and unjust than Iraq. Shouldn't we remember this? Shouldn't we remember that our involvment, at a time when we were the most powerful country in the world, only escalated the situation?
It's not patriotic to regard everything this country does, has done and will do as a virtuous and noble cause. But it should be acceptable to question the motives behind what is done.

The poppy is not just about remembrance its not just about those who fought in the two World Wars of the last century, its also about those involved in the many other conflicts worldwide and those who are still fighting for peace and freedom now. It also about remembering loved ones lost, learning from the past and resolving to make the world a better place to live in the future
Whoever camila thinks she is, she is representing this country, and she should of been wareing the poppy in support of all the soliders etc who are still fighting
