Not who, but what. One word 'ignorance'. The white guys think that their asian counterparts are getting 'preferential' treatment. The asian guys know that they are not. It is real difficult to put yourself in the shoes of others, particularly when you get into a 'crowd' or group of folks. 'Us' becomes 'Them'. The question about the Police? Its about interpretation of the law. If you're white and don't look too much like a 'loser' or drug dealer then your chances of being stopped by the Police are truly non- existent (barring drunk/dangerous driving, or an obvious breach of law). The common perception is that unless you break the law (a 'fair cop') the law, and Police, will leave you alone. This is not the case. The type of people who seek out a career in law enforcement (generally speaking!) are pretty right wing. Their views are colored by their own preferences and prejudices. This influences how they interpret and act upon the laws of your country.
