I originally thought it was a blunder.... but now, having heard comments suggesting that even with the discount applied, other outlets are still cheaper, and having heard the Chief Exec of Thresher still saying they would make a profit, I now think it was probably a publicity stunt.
I think it's genuine, but from what I can gather Thresher are in danger of becoming victims of their own success and I have visions of them withdrawing the whole offer.

BargainBooze is still cheaper, and they're closer, in my case.
I asked this a few questions down.

Having looked at it now I'm pretty convinced that it's a clever PR stunt.

There are a lot of similar offers about and by making out that it was some sort of mistake they create a buzz about it and have people clamouring to take them up on it.

Clever stuff
Work it out --- the 40% offer cannot be used with any other offer ie Threshers 3 for 2 offer . This is not costing Threshers a great deal of money but great publicity.

By the way my daughter in law works for Threshers and she says you can tell whos printers are nearly out of ink by the different coloured vouchers LOL.
what they did not say was that they put up their prices by 50% already
I think it is definatly a PR stunt. I bet 90% of people using the vouchers would normally bought their alcohol from Tesco's/Siansbury's/Asda, so they are getting people in. The price of alcohol in a Thresher is about 35% more than in supermarkets anyway. It's cr@p that they will lose money or they would have simply not honored to offer or simply taken all the wine and champagne off the shelves and told customers they had sold out. If they even make 1 profit on every sale they have made millions. Plus people will also no doubt buy a packet of fags/chocolate bar which are not in the offer, and generate them more money.
It's in my opinion an incredibly clever marketing tool, 1 person in their PR department makes a pdf and e-mails it, costing lets say about 1, the revenue, interest and market share it has generated are phenomonal.

Mr Thresher is laughing all the way to the bank.
