Does anybody actually believe that GB putting another 1.25 p/litre will make a blind bit of difference?

Well no. But neither will this question.

How many times do I have to tell people...it's all about fundamental economic revolution.
Its not about fundamental economic revolution or all that type of blarney. It is pure and simple LIES. let me explain.

The labour govt and its liar in chief Blair said about 8 years ago that all the money generated from petrol taxes would be ploughed back into roads and transport. That was his mantra and justification for all the tax on petrol (remember when the truckers striked).

One day Liar in chief changed his tune. he said the money generated will go into better hospitals and schools. Whoa...hold on there you said it was for roads...

So now he thinks hang on a minte, this population is numpty enough to fall for the environment speel. So hey i raise air tax and petrol (Ok its below inflation rise now but wait till march) and say this will stop pollution. There is more polution spewed out by farting cows than there is by all the vehicles in the world (AND THAT IS A FACT). Also completely ignoring the fact that the needless building works for the 2012 olympics (and all the associated travel for and during the games) is generating more pollution than all the cars in the UK will for the next 10 years. Lies lies Lies.
No, GB is just raising a bit of revenue, and more power to his elbow.

I am very fatalistic in issues like this. Global warming - if it is real - is unstoppable, least of all by piffling UK taxes. The West had its industrial revolution, and no way are China, India, etc, going to be told not to have theirs now. Very successfully too, just wander around the high street and see where nearly everything is manufactured today. There is nothing at all we can do, let's sit back and watch. We've got enough problems with people like the second poster stabbing us in the back to worry about future tsunami or droughts. Besides, when large areas of the Asian subcontinent become uninhabitable we'll need plenty of government funds to welcome the refugees to Britain.

Like so many modern ills, global warming is all Blair's fault.

Go fo it GB, and smack the SUVs next year too !!
The truth always hurts whiffey but your kind have been hurting for a while now.
Not that you are in any way biases eh Dom?

Sounds like a rise less than the rate of inflation to me - so no it'll need much more dramatic action.

As whiffey says we cannot solve this on our own - no single country can.

We do however have a choice - to show leadership or to skulk about going "can't do it - won't try".

Certain people are always going on about this being a great country - what would a great country do?
Mr P work all over the South East ~ unfortunately he can't cycle 100 miles per day, especially with nowehere to put his tools.
