This is not the case. I will agree that what she said was nasty and spiteful but certainly not racist. The 'shilpa popadom' comment really makes me laugh. I know a scottish man who everyone calls (affectionately) Haggis.
I think most people have forgotten what racism actually is. If every little thing is called racism then it belittles the whole thing and true acts of racism go unnoticed.
i also agree that she has been bullied into admitting being racist in order to save face for her and C4.

I do think the media are hanging their coats on the wrong hook here. The "Shilpa Poppadom" comment was certainly ignorant and stupid, but I don't believe it was borne out of racial hatred. The media are so hung up on finding racism round every corner that this silly throwaway comment has attracted far more attention than the screaming, swearing, ganging-up and finger-jabbing, which seems to me to be far more unpleasant.
I agree that Jade Goody is a waste of oxygen, but I think the alleged "racism" part of it has been taken too far. She's an idiot, but I doubt she'll be starting up the Ku Klux Klan's Bermondsey branch in the near future.

We can't get on with everyone, no matter what their colour.By not liking someone, we're accused of being racist??I don't think so!That being said, I could see through Jade Goody from the start.I dont know who's fancy she tickled but she certainly never tickled mine.that whole fake i'm a but dispy routine was nauseating.the good thing is her more nauseating mother won't get a 'chat show' as jade envisaged(lol).Surely the whole point of celebrity is that they are people we aspire to be?Who wants to watch someone on tv you'd do your best to avoid in the local boozer because they are rough and trashy? What is this country coming do? hopefully Jade Goody will drift off into oblivion along with the hype.
Can someone please explain what they think racism actually IS?
I ask because every time there's an outcry about racism, it seems that loads of people denounce it as 'not racism'.
So can someone tell me they think racism is? Does telling a Indian woman to go back home, or go to the slums, or mimic her accent or refuse to eat food she cooks count as racism or just ignorance?
Does someone have to beat her up whilst calling her a 'P*ki' before we can call it racism?

anyone with a bit of intelligence and sensitivity could see it wasn't racism. It was jealousy and the fact that Shilpa was cultured, pretty and dignified.I'm sick hearing all this pc crap. How long does this tolerant nation have to apologise for the sins of the past that happened before most of us were born? How long do we have to put up with interfering no-gooders erasing our culture and freedom of speech at the expense of us in this country who have embraced others settling into our society? Why are we not allowed to be suspicious of muslims in today's climate when it is in fact the new generation of muslims who are embracing terrorism and wiping out the years of integration and 'multicultulturism ' we have all been brought up with?I'm sorry but I refuse to buy into all this hype.its getting sickening.Shilpa was the victim of bullying-it happened in last year's big brother and no-one batted an eyelid because it was Jodie Marsh. In my opinion that was more uncomfortable to watch.I think we have proved beyond any doubt we a re a tolerant society. But where do we draw the line?
SP - my definition of racism is the belief that your own race is superior to others.
I don't believe that Jade thought she was superior than Shilpa - and therefore I don't believe that she was racist.
Oh and btw SP, do you remember our little bet on who would be next leader of the Labour party - do you fancy doubling it? Really cant see Reid doing it now!!!!

so the victim of the racist bullies has won big brother 'so what'i hear you say but what a kick in the teeth for her 3 tormentors.it just goes to show there is no place in society for racist bullies like those 3.grace/beauty and humility won through in the end.and no im not of ethnic origin im a proud white englishman who is ashamed of jade goodys and her racist friends antics.
The trouble is, yes Jade is ignorant and foul mouthed and stupdi and all those things, but THAT is how the nation voted for her the first time she was on Big Brother. All that she has done is remain the same, I bet there are clips of her screaming at all sorts of people and calling them all sorts of funny names. I think it is unfair to hoist someone to fame and then cut them down for being the very person that they were before. If Shilpa had been white and from Essex and Jade had called her 'MIss White Boots' or something would she have caused a public outcry of "Essexism". I don't think so. What happened was she got involved in something that was out of her control.
No stokeace, she is not defusing the situation, she said that because that is how she feels about the situation, If she really thought she was being racially abused do you think she would`ve stayed in there?
Do you know what really annoys black people, It`s not Jade Goody,Bernard Manning,BNP, NF etc
It`s people like you and the countless number of white stuck -up MPs who bring out the race card in the slightest instance, yet if you was to tell them that a black/asian/indian family are moving in next door to them they`d have a f**king fit!
That is a comment from a workmate who just so happens to be black.
