was there another deep sea creature found a few weeks ago that the scientists were studying and ended up killing?have seen the shark last week but can`t remember what the other creature was.

It was a Frilled shark, also known as Frill shark.
The scientists should have left it alone.

seriously though, is this something they knew of and thought was extinct or a completely new species?
