And you think that this would be fair on the parents? To not see a trial, not find out the reasons etc.
Quite happy for him to be given the death sentence but he must be convicted of the crime first.
The parents and family of the baby are the people who are most affected by this and they must be given closure so that they can move on. A suicide would not (imho) give them that closure.

4getmenot - But can we be sure that he'll live out his days with no freedom, or will he possibly be deemed suitable for release at some time in the distant future? I just think the world would be better off without him. Once he's dead he's gone for good - and we'd be absolutely sure that he would never ever get the opportunity to rape and kill another baby.
This is the problem when there's no capital punishment - they can sentence the guilty man for as long as they like, but in a couple of years time some Lord Longford type do-gooder will decide it's not fair on the poor little dear and campaign for his release (and change of identity and new life in Australia at our expense)
If he's 6 feet under this has a tendency not to happen.
Myra Hindley nearly got released because of Longford bleating about how she was a changed character.

Thing is, if he kills himself, some unlucky prison officer will have to deal with the body, the authorities, the paperwork and all the associated security issues. Dealing with swingers may be an occupational hazard, but it's not a pleasant thing to have to do nonetheless. It's not as though they get paid a fantastic wage for doing it.
It may astonish you, but there are prisoners who genuinely want to just serve their time quietly and reform themselves. It's these people who deserve the prison officers' time - not sickos who have no intention of changing at all.
