She also managed to keep her career going, long after people thought that she should give it up.

Yes the cure was harsh Mani but there was no alternative. The rot had to be stopped. The misery was pre created by socialism by oppressive Union laws and the loony left authorities. The jobs that where lost where not real they where artificially created by making it all but impossible to fire someone. Like a recovering alcoholic the country had stored up it's problems and when the time come to change it did cause suffering initially. MrsT did not create the selfishness but she made it clear that the world does not owe anyone a living, she taught us that it's not where you start it's where you finish. Some detractors will never forgive her for demonstrating why solcialism cannot work. They cannot bare the fact that she exposed the weaknesses in their beloved Ideollogy. I suspect they are in education turning out Thatcher haters like yourself who don't have an understanding of what it was like, who cannot comprehend that there was simply no alternative but to do what only MrsT had the guts to do.Without MrsT the country would have collapsed totally.

You are wrong on so many levels, I grow tired of explaining it again and again on here. Perhaps I'll have a go tomorrow. But I will tell you how the Thatcher year effected me.

I come from a family of total wasters, we lived on benefits on a council estate, both my parents hardly ever had a job between them. In my teenage years in the 70's I saw raving mad loonies ruining the country and the effects of rabid Union dogma and socialism. Mrs T or someone like her was deperatly needed. MrsT taught me that if you work hard everything is possible, I went to university against my parents wishes and got myself a career, I am fairly comfortablly off now. Far from aiding the rich MrsT aided thousands like me, they called us Thatchers children, I think the name is appropriate. Cutting taxes aids everyone. Someone has to create wealth. She didn't favour the rich, she created the conditions for people to become better off. As for creating yob culture. Please, think about it. 40 years of liberal thinking did that, any weapon of control has been removed so you have vast swathes of yobs who know their rights but not that with rights come responsibilities. Any semblance of authority has been wiped away on the anvil of the PC mafia.

Seriously, she did wonders for the UK. Turned an entire generation into idiots who cared only for themselves with no thought for the wider community, and it's their kids that are showing the lessons learned. That's the reason you have 'petty' crime like you do. 'Petty' being stabbings, muggings, that kind of thing. But so long as it doesn't affect me, it's all great.
