Council wants to separate couple after 60 years

An elderly couple may be separated after 60 years to together because of a local authority ruling. Mrs Dunnell, 80, suffers from dementia and is on a waiting list for a council owned with twenty four seven care. Her husband however, has been deemed too well and must continue to live in their bungalow alone. The couple are said to be horrified. What do you think? Should this be allowed? Should their local authority find a way around this situation to benefit everyone involved?

I think they should be placed together, that's a bit unfair. They might not be able to look after eachother but if they have been together for 60 years the seperation will cause a detremental effect. The older generation don't seem to be looked after as well as they should anymore. I know if I had a bigger house I would have my granddad live with me.

This is only in the news because it is clearly wrong. I'd be surprised if anyone thought otherwise. The local authorities have probably made a mistake and internal red tape and beaurocracy have let it get to a stage that it shouldn't have done. When they reverse the decision, it won't make the news needless to say....

The fact of the matter is her hubby wouldnt get funding for a care home, and there is a massive waiting list for elderly people blocking acute medical beds in hospital who need a care home place. He would be able to stay with her if they both found a private care home and paid for it. Sad but true.

Get your Bloody act together,and make sure they stay together....So it may cost a few quid to arrange it......Stop Wasting our money on council binges...and pi$$ ups....bu��er the new roundabout.Lets get back to Reality...
