A qiuck click on the travel section will reveal that this whole section had been gazumped by this tedious quiz and it has pushed genuine travel questions completely off the top 20 page........The travel section has traditionally been one of the slower categories but it has beem swamped by this....perhaps now it's time for a long asked for Quiz section.....thoughts?

I agree
ditto!
I've already commented in Quizmonster's thread in Phrases and Sayings. It does get a bit monotonous when you open up a category and all you see as question headers is 'Sunday Times Quiz Q........'. I don't mind quiz questions but I can understand, particularly over the last week or so, the frustration of users who do! And what's also frustrating is that on a lot of the 'questions', there IS no question - just a reference to question number from the quiz, which is OK for people doing the quiz, but not a lot of good for the rest of us when we don't know what the question is and, therefore, can't even begin to help!
You won't get it. changes schmanges that's AB.
isn't this a plot by Telegraph to upset Daily Mail?
I've never seen anything like this! Surely they've got to consider a quiz section now. I'm not holding my breath though.
Yea we definitely need one. But I think people will still flood other categories since they probably won't get many replies in a boring ol' quiz section.
I totally agree. And while we're about it ,why is lhe word "new " STILL there next to adverts?
Because they don't listen to us or care about us Molly...
Absolutely correct ! Anyway, what pleasure is there in asking thousands of people at once online and using their replies.Isn't it supposed to be puzzling and require some knowledge or research by the contestant ? Perhaps, if there's a prize, we should refuse to answer unless we can get a guaranteed share ?
It's just ridiculous, now. Even a quiz reference quoting zizzy's suggested sites on the Home Page would be a small blessing - and, I'm sure, useful to quizzymorons..
Fred, You've just said pretty much what I said elsewhere on this site. The whole point of taking part in a challenging contest is lost, if people are just prepared to ask and - worse - answer the questions in an ongoing competition on a site such as this!

Certainly, these users deserve a category of their very own, as you suggest, Sft.

Hello sft42 - the Sunday Times quiz questions should dry up quickly as there's a closing date for it. The Travel section has been swamped for a few days; hopefully, it will stay busy with all sorts of questions as the newbies realise what this site can do for them in a more appropriate style. We don't have plans at present to introduce a Quiz section.
Can I ask, Mr AB Editor, Why not??? Everyone seems to think it's a good idea, what have you got against it?
If you check in the Internet and Technology section there is a discussion where the AB Editor says that its technically too difficult and would require a major revamp of the site. (Which if you read my comments is a bit of lame excuse)

[That is not what I say in the thread you refer to. The reasons it isn't happening are not 'technical'. - AB Editor]
Is it just me or is AB Editor being as cagey as a politician in answering the very simple question of " Why Not ? "

Im putting my 5 pence worth in because it seems there are genuinely very good reasons to have a "quiz" section - and yet no definite answer on why not !

hmmm . . . o well im off to ask another silly question....

[Trying not to be 'cagey' while allowing myself the benefit of maintaining some level of mystique - or should that be commercial confidentiality? After all, for you this is a fascinating (we hope) website; for us it is a business. - AB Editor]
