Can anyone fail to be amazed at the Earth in action? Pumping thousands of tons of CO2 out in one go, does anyone still believe mankind has any effect on global warming? Are we so arrogant as to believe we can effect the climate?

Vic: Thanks for that very informative
Iggy/jno: New information most helpful and yes I agree it is much more difficult for the Thames to freeze now, does it reach comparable temperatures now though?
jno: Generally in these dicussions it goes without saying that mankind could effect the planet with Nukes so generally for the pruposes of these debates I exclude them. But yes I agree we ceratinly could effect the climate with Nuclear weapons.

Interesting stuff Waldo, sorry been a bit busy to look into this thoroughly. I'm certainly curuious about the different Carbon Isotopes I just wonder though how fossil fuel burning from mankind can be distiguished from that of nature, ie natural forest fires etc and volcanoes would burn fossil fuel if it was around. Anyway I'm going to look into this more throughly when I get a chance. .
