However there would be nothing to stop Tony Blair calling an election tomorrow for 2 weeks time (assuming he thought he would win) to start another 5 year term.
Whenever it is Labour must be ousted. We have the insidious ever increasing tax burden, we have the immoral lifting of the cap on NI (it's immoral because I have private medical insurance and I also have personal/company pension - it is a Tax by any other name), we have the duplicitous Stephen Byers, the morally bankrupt Mandy Mandellson, the hypocritical liar Diane Abbott (do as I say not as I do), the absolutely disgraceful Children's Minister whose name I have thankfully forgotten (I cannot believe she hasn't resigned) to name but a few, and of course Tony B. Liar. Please remember, that these are people that banged on about Tory sleaze. Labour are slipping into their old tax & spend, tax & spend philosophy which has proved so disastrous in the past. Conservative is the only viable option. The wooly liberals want to tax us more than Labour.
The latest a general election can be is July 2006. There must be seventeen working days between the moving of the writ to dissolve parliament till polling day, which doesn't have to be on a thurday. The quickest time between announcment and poll was February 1974 (20 days).
Don't believe the February speculation, it's just Blairspin to keep the backbenchers on their toes, there was a similar story in March about a possible October election.
