ok so this is about a NEWSpaper - in the media guardian today in the creative media and sales vacancies is a small green advert with the headline 'Ever seen the game with Michael Douglas?' then the rest of it is in a code - any one have aNY idea what it means - am really intrigued or should i just try and work it out on my own?

'The Game' was quite a complex thriller starring Michael Douglas in which everything that appeared to be really happening to him was in fact rather elaborately staged (if that's any help) - although you probably knew that already I imagine! What was the code (sadly I don't take The Grauniad...)?

Hi dave, thanks for your answer - i've seen the Game which is why i was so intrigued but spent an hour working on it with my mum tonight and i've cracked it! not telling anyone though cos i worked bl**dy hard to work it out!! cheers anyway!

It's pretty easy to break the code when you look at it logically. A few hints - look at the web site address. One letter words are either I or A. Also E is the most common letter in the English language.

So is anyone going to tell us the code so that we can all have a go, or have you worked it out to say "Don't tell anyone this code"?

hello all, i am not a typical guardian reader!!! there isn't really a system to the code i don't think, like willow says - it's pretty easy once you work it out - like endings kept appearing and you could work out that was 'ing' which was 'ebj' therefore you go through and put every e as an i, every b as an n and so on, plus their website address started ggg.xxxxxx.mlf so you could work out that g was w and mlf was com. I'm not being arsey - it;s just that it's an advert for a job and the point of getting the web address and consequently maybe an interview is by breaking the code, so it means less competition for me!!! sorry if i;ve offended anyone buti i couldn't tell you the code without telling you what every letter stands for - or maybe i'm clueless and there was a much easier way to work it out!

Hey becks. Someone, somewhere are apparently starting a whole new game sprawling every conceivable media network available. For more info you can apparently see Marketing Week p60 (110304) or log on to www.projectsyzygy.com. A server that can't be found... Either fiendishly clever or two teenagers with too much time on their hands. Judging by the fact that there is no pattern to their coding I wouldn't get my hopes up...

Thanks when , yeah i found it and sent off my cv, archbishop - not sure what the jobs are seems to be all sorts writers (me)/marketing/animators - all sorts - don;t know much about servers and codes and stuff but whole thing just looked so cool, that i had to apply for a job i don;t even know about. think it's looks like fun and would be interesting at least! oh well, says it'll take a few months to get back to me so won;t hold my breath (well maybe a bit!) cheers guys xx

when: are you sure you've looked at the Marketing Week advert properly? There might be something you're missing...
