We were talking about the terrorism stuff in work and a colleague asked me what I thought could be done to prevent these attacks. I said "stop letting these people in the country", she said I was racist. Right, or wrong?

I do not think you are racist, I too think that this would not be happening if it was not for foreigners. It is not very often you hear the words..... "Police are looking for a White Male with an English accent in connection with the latest Bombing"

I dont think this comment is racist as such but it is a bit stupid and narrow minded. Not all foreigners are bad and not all British are saints.

As a matter of interest stokeace, how would you identify the "foreigners who are likely to blow us all to kingdom come?"

Would you ask " are you likely to blow us all to kingdom come at any point during yir stay?" as they went through customs?

What about separate channels for Terrorists and non-Terrorists to speed up the process?

I totally agree, they are not all saints but the radical side of the foreigners needs to be stopped. If they hate the UK so much LEAVE. I cannot see the point in hurting innocent people, it does not help their cause and just causes more divide in the UK communities.

I think the only way to combat these terrorists is to enforce laws and maybe bring in new ones to make it a crime to preach about wanting to cause harm to people/places of the country your in.
Obviously i will be labelled a racist again as the laws will be made out to just target the asian communities.
But its about time that all this PC brigade stopped whining and started protecting their people. If a certain minority are doing the crime, then they should be brought to justice, regardless if all of them are from one community...

Some of the UK terrorists were born here, have lived here all their lives, been given a good free education, healthcare and held down good jobs and still seem determined to destroy the country they were raised in!! They are giving their race a bad name and causing grief for their own race in the UK. This could be why racism is now so prevelant. Only my opinion.

I do not know why people even bother with these threads as it always brings out the hippy brigade. Simple really, hang the bas#ards who are happy enough to live here, but then want to blow off the very hand that feeds them.

No - you're not a racist. But you could be xenophobic, (someone who distrusts foreigners/or those different to them).

I am a foreigner who married a british man we had years (really!) of endless forms, paperwork and visa renewals to get through. We did it all legally and i now have my citizenship. But for some people it seems too easy...and SOME (not all!) foreigners don't appreaciate what a good thing this country is, (even with the yucky weather lol) and for them I have very little time.

My impression is that racism is NOT a one way thing. Aren`t those immigrants who reject the indigenous population and what they stand for just as racist?

Eurika !!!! JamiEYE. "stop letting these people in the country " What is wrong with that idea? Would it not be an obvious step to take? It sounds a good start to me. I don't want to decend into a security nightmare as exists in Israel and or the Lebanon etc. Scared to get on a bus in case it has YOUR number on it ! Maybe it's not verry nice of me to be so at odds with a certain section of humanity so that makes me not strictly PC. Oh dear, I've dared to upset someone, it wont do will it?
