I was struck watching Prince Charles' visit to flooded areas yesterday that he must have forgotten his wellies. Why else then was an inflatable boat employed to ferry him about the streets which had less than a foot in height of water? Gathering news photographer, who had remembered their wellies, surrounded the boat and took pictures. See the scene in the link below

It made a good photo opportunity though which will cheer up the soggy folk of Yorkshire don't you think?

He had holes in his socks and didn't want the media to photograph them as he changed into his wellies! It would have been funny if the dingy had deflated.
I saw that in the paper this morning Gromit & thought the same as you. Surely, he must have a pair of waders in his shed from his fishing days!

the Lord High Chambrlain of the Wardrobe had the day off and Charles doesn't know how to open the door himself to get his boots
maybe he shouldnt have bothered.
Hmmm, what you didnt see on camera is when he was in deeper waters and when he went to a local mosque and had to take his wellies off to go inside.
Apparently they floated away and as someone above states, he had holes in his socks and didnt want the embarassment.
Can you imagine the media coverage if charles had holes in his socks. It would be front page news...

As if he's going to walk about in wellies in puddles and muck... of course he'll either be carried or ferried about in his short visit, he's the prince afterall, not any old Yorkshire commoner.

In a boat or in wellies, at least he has travelled up North from London to see the state of things. more than can be said for the politicians who are more able than the Prince to take action with funds and aid.

Would it have been different if these floods had taken place in the South?
I thought it was good that he went, did Gordon Brown go?.
I notice that Platitude Man has been visiting flood victims. I notice too that at least one bride and groom had their imminent wedding destroyed by their homes being waterlogged. Wouldn't have been a nice gesture if the POW, with all his money, houses, staff and influence, had offered a venue or cutlery or catering for that couple? Perhaps he could have sent oodles of his biscuits to those new homeless languishing in community centres - anything rather than deploying emergency services to guard him rather than get things moving again.
