Why were there no arrests made, over this incident? And why was this not given wide TV coverage? Is it not time Burkas were banned once and for all?

If we didn't post any controversial questions on the news section, there would be no debate. Much better than sections such as celebrity gossip, who cares about these anyway.
How can I rest love, when I have the world to sort out? But I must go and dress for Dinner now, Tat Ta.

Oh dear Oh dear, now I really have hit a nerve and upset you. Just a myth that back in the late forties they came here to do jobs that we wouldn't do. The real fact was that most of our labour force had been away at war, and there was a shortage of Labour, I know I was there, was you?
Damn it I will have to tie my bow tie yet again, I'm off.

Not upset me but I don't think it was a fair question and I think you're smarter than that.
And so there was a shortage of labour. Does that take away from black people coming over doing the jobs that we couldn't? Not to mention those who aided efforts in the war in Africa and India.
You asked for advantages, I gave you one.
Now shove off to your dinner and behave yourself. Take care.

Stop being conditioned by our muslim hating government/media, the point is we never had a culture in the first place, we robbed it off all those countries we exploited over the years. Tea anyone....thats from India. We messed ourselves over by shutting down the coal mines and taking from everyone else. English people should get off there high horses and start respecting other people. It seems like karma is right, we have screwded up other peoples countries, and it is coming back on us now! Approx 40 billion is contributed to our economy from people coming to live and work here, and I say good on them if our own people cant be bothered to get off the couch and stop claiming benefits, let someone else take that job. How many English people are claiming benefits when they are able to work. Proud to be English, it makes me laugh!!!!
If you are old enough to have been around then, tell me what happened to the men of our country. Why did they start to leave there kids without father figures, why did they start drinking/doing drugs, get lazy etc. I know this is a different thread but I would love an ansewr as to where the good men went. My area is full of gangs and men who have loads of kids to loads of women, there kids turn into brats cos there dads disappeared so they dont have any positive male role model. They all think benefits are their basic right. I have so much respect for most older people but what is happening to societies poorer areas
anotheoldgit, i have read countless of your posts , agreeing with very few, as they always are bordering on the word nobody really wants to be associated with. honestly, just in purely reading, you come across as the staunch "british empire, gunga din era type of ignorant , we rule the world we can do no wrong kind of brit"., although it is painfully obvious you would be preferred to be thought of as ' english' i would like to remind you that your whole tiny island, including scotland , ireland and wales isn't much larger in size than vancouver island. so apparently you've lived long enough to see the chickens come home to roost so to speak, as painfull as that may be for you, such is life.so get over yourself and except the fact that you live on an insignificant little island and the rest of the world is moving on whether you like it or not, as it always has. i used to have to sing god save the queen every day, thank god my daughter doesn't even know the words! apologies for any spelling errors. cheers!

Because you can't 'return' to a country that you weren't born in.
I'm guessing that the young women protesting were born here.
Just a guess...like your guess that they were born in a Muslim country.
By the way - the 'why don't they go home' sentiment is really old hat now.
We have at least three generations of immigrants (since the 50s) for whom Britain is their home. We need to deal with the challenges and opportunities that presents rather than spewing out meaningless platitudes.
Surely you agree with that???

Raggy...
No - forgetting that one of the failed suicide bombers tried to flee the country in a burka wasn't convenient. It was rather inconvenient for my argument.
However, I still don't see why we have the right to dictate the dress code of (some) ordinary Muslim women because of a single event.
Please explain to me how you think the law would be upheld?
Would you want to see police stationed outside mosques waiting for women to come out, and then have them arrested if they didn't lift their veils?
Really, is that what you're proposing?
Have you ever heard of anything so naive in your life?
Why aren't people being level headed and thinking things through?
Seriously...how do you see a proposed ban working.
How?

I have a question though....when you call them 'parasites', can you be more specific?
Are you saying that Muslims in general don't contribute to society, pay taxes and spend all their time on the dole, or Muslim women, or Muslim women who wear veils.
It just helps to understand exactly who you're talking about.
