Four in ten homes taken by immigrants

The current housing situation in the UK is a hotly debated subject at the moment. New research will add fuel to the current fire after revealing four in ten homes built in the last decade have been needed for immigrants. Gordon Brown has admitted that it is harder for first-time buyers to get on the housing ladder and has promised to build three million homes by 2020. However, based on current immigration levels, 40% of these homes will be needed for immigrants. What do you think? How can we work around this situation � if we even can?

In a government answer NOT reported in the Mail or Telegraph:

very important people who come here to migrate are able to support themselves financially and economically, including in housing and other areas, and they do not become a burden on the state. That is generally the case for people who migrate to work and study. Secondly, people who are seen as "burdens" in this area are people who are here illegally who should not be here.

And in a similar answer unpublished in the right wing press (unsurprisingly) 74.4% of foreign nationals of working age are economically active (working)

Coming from an area where second homes abound, I would agree with LeMarchand 100%. Also, buy to let is now supported wholeheartedly with huge discounts offered by the lending companies for buy to let mortgages. I am more worried about these factors than houses being sold to immigrants. The rich are getting richer and we are going back to pre war times.

you are right leewayne but im afraid you are on your own on this 1 for a while i have to go out to work now...some of us have to go and contribute to the system so these immigrants can come here and live off the state.and if i were you jake id open your front door and look outside at the real world.

I think how different ethnic groups are distributed around the world is not the issue. The problem is that the planet cannot sustain the number of people there are here already and the world population continues to increase. As an environmental campaigner since my teens (I am now in my 50s) I took the decision not to have children and I think it needs many more people to make the same decision.

Im not going to get in a debate anyway,i respect that people have different opinions,but i would say that 90% agree with this AB question. Its gone too far now,the country is totally different from even 15 years ago. I feel like a second class citizen and we work for nothing.

Yet more examples of the hidden cost of immigration. From the BBC web site today about crime amongst black boys, it says:

Black boys need positive role models from within their own communities to tackle underachievement, a report says.

The Reach panel of experts, from fields including education and business, says too often role models for young black men include rappers who glamorise guns.

The report says this could cost the UK �24bn over the next 50 years through taxes and criminal justice costs.

This is because of a declining birth rate amongst the indiginous population.

BUT if we had not had rampant immigration, housing costs wold be less (lower mortgages and rents) and you would not need to have both husband AND wife at work to pay for the mortgage or rent.

So if the wife CHOSE to stay at home then the family is more likely to have 2 or 3 children, hence less of an need for immigrants and their children.

The thing that is rarely mentioned about immigration is that many of the people who come here come from nations where corruption is a way of life.

You cant tell me that people come here from nations like Bangldesh and all of sudden become honest people, of course they dont.

A local Birmingham paper recently printed unemployment figures for the Asian community. For Bangladesh people it was 17%, the highest figure. How many of those do you think work for "cash in hand" in shops and restaurants?

Why do you think Asians love corner shops ? Because it is cash in hand and very difficult to track how much they actually make and how much to pay tax on.

Why do their wife, children, grandparents all work in the shop. Becuase you dont need to pay them a salary, and therefore they pay no tax.

Why do Asians love buying houses at auctions ? Because they can pay in cash with the money they make in their shops and restaurants.

I went to a cash and carry in Birmingham recently to buy stuff for my childs school fete. The place was full of Asians, and they were all buying with cash.

A common scam in Birmingham is for Asians to buy a house and rent it out to a friend. You charge a high rent, he has to get housing benefit, and you split the difference.

My wife works in the disability area. You would be amazed how many Asian families find themselves with a disabled child (Autism for example) because they know how much the disability benefit is.

You would not believe the scams these people get up to.
