George Bush and his cronies have been talking up a war with Iran ever since they invaded Iraq and now it seems thay're gearing up to move in for the kill. Again as with Iraq, there is little to no evidence to back up their claims for this invasion. Also as with Iraq, if they go ahead with the invasion of Iran there will probably be hundreds of thousands of innocent people killed. This American administration is made up of a bunch of religiosly intolerent crusaders with a messed up power hungry money driven agenda. I don't think we as a society can sit back and watch this time as they go in and destroy another country. What can be done to stop this warmonger?

I don't think they have the manpower to invade Iran - too tied up in Iraq and Afghanistan - but would be more likely to resort to aerial bombing, probably with assistance from their chums in Israel. I rather doubt that this would work: Iran's nuclear facilities are most likely deep underground in a variety of hard-to-spot desert locations.

I also don't think the American public has much more stomach for war - they don't mind it as long as no Americans get killed, but even from 30,000ft this is hard to guarantee.

I'm not delighted with the prospect of a nuclear-armed Iran - their mullahs are more intolerant than their American counterparts - but I think Bush has made such a hash of everything he's done so far that the USA won't be in any position to do much about it. In fact pretty well everything he's done so far has benefited Iran - including killing Saddam, who was Iran's real enemy. So there's no really positive outcome to hope for here.

Britain wont be able to cope with the demand for troops so I hope they wont be pulling us in with it. I just can't see how the UN hasn't pulled him and Tony up on war crimes!

Hmmm, if Iran poses a threat to the west or any other country then actions should be put into place to prevent it.
It is well known Iran will use any weapon at their disposal.
They have already stated that they want to wipe Isreal off the earth.
If a country is posing a threat to another one, then i think the world powers should do what they can to prevent this. if USA have to take the lead again then so be it, but i think we will stand by and support them on this.
The world has to open its eyes and understand that these rogue countries wont go down the diplomatic route.
The stronger nations need to pull together to help the weaker ones...

We are doing a lot to try to help the african countries.
But there are priorities.
A lot of the african countries arent threatening our existence and trying to destroy us. At the moment there are plans in place and thousands of UN peacekepping troops on standby.
The problem with rogue states like Iran and Iraq are that they do not want to go down the political route andrea81.
These sort of states can only be dealt with by force.
the difference with the USA and England and Iran and Iraq is, where would you rather live?

...erm, says who? They haven't said anything of the sort about Israel, they just said it should be consigned to the history books, which isn't the same thing. The west has unfortunately been interfering in Iranian politics for decades

Firstly, styley. Hundreds of thousands of innocent people will not die if Iran is invaded. Soldiers yes, but civilian casualties will be kept to an assolute minimum under international law.

However, if they are allowed to develop a nuclear capability, Lord knows how many innocent fellows will die then. Also, looking at their overall infrastructure and level of third worldness, who is to say another Chernobyl will not happen in Tehran??

Personally, I am all for complete anihilation of the middle east, whether we nuke them or send in the UN's full capability. However, we need to equip our boys better.
