Kill a hoodie?

I am getting more and more apalled every time I hear of another innocent death at the hands of Yobs or Hoodies. I know it isn`t legal, but why can`t we all go out and kill one hoodie each, thus distributing fear amongst them, in the same way they distill fear into others.

I am certain, that if someone does, people of Britain will unite and be 100% behind the person willing to take a stand.

Actually, on the same note, can`t Britain declare war on itself and let the army deal with street crime, drug crime and violent gun crime, like if they were in another country with a zero tolerance attitude? Worth thinking about...

I wonder if Dick Turpin was a very early example of the hoody? Highwaymen often roamed in groups and concealed their identity by obscuring their face and took part in anti-social behaviour and violent crime. Dick and his band of brigands were'nt exposed to violent computer games and I'm sure their parents didnt bring them up to live a life of crime. This is hardly a new problem, but in todays society where no-one really goes hungry there is less requirement for this behaviour than before.
We should start by attacking those gangs who wear brown hoodies and hang round monasteries. What a great idea.

I think there's an argument for targeting violent computer games, especially as the interactive element can generate some unhealthy blood lust.

I wouldn't target violent films. For one thing, I don't see a causal link between screen and actual violence. And more importantly censorship is almost impossible to implement without depriving society of some classic films - films without which we'd be an even more joyless, souless bunch of drones that we're already in danger of becoming.
I'll tell you how to cut violence - probably by as much as 50% and it's easy but you're not going to like it.

Ban alcohol totally

Conservatively half violent offences involve alcohol - yes I know you'd get illegal supply and that'd involve some violence but nothing compared to what we have now.

As a bonus drink driving offenses would fall through the floor too!

But then you all like a drink or two don't you?

You see it seems to me that most of you are all ready to sit around and propose radical action as long as it doesn't affect you

So the question is do you really care about violent crime -really - enough to give up alcohol?

Thought not

I take your point JTP - but there are certain religious factions who ban drink and violence, but it doesn't seem to stop them going out committing mass murder!

a lot of these gangs seem to commit senseless voilence on others just because they fell they "don't respect them".

No respect? do they themselves have respect for anyone or indeed anything??
How did you bring religion in to a discussion about hoodies?!

Ban alcohol totally :- says jake-the-peg

Didn't America once ban drink JTP? 1920 - 1930

Violence in the US increased then. Why would it decrease by as much as 50% in the UK?

Thank you Vinny!
Funnily enough I was watching the news last night and there was an interview with Camila on Hard Talk about this very subject. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/hardtalk /6978182.stm
Actually, I'd love to see the stats on crime during the prohibition.

A rise in organised crime must have been off-set by a huge reduction in civil disobedience and domestic violence.

Would we want another catalyst for organised crime? We have enough of one caused by the prohibition of drugs.

On a separate point, I love the double standards that people apply when discussing booze and drugs. And most don't even know they're doing it.
