We can learn from the former Communist Bloc. They had the right idea. They had a low rate of juvenile crime compared to us because violent yobs would soon find themselves sent away to 'Re-education through Work' camps where they would work hard and also be taught about citizenship and consideration for others. We could do with something like that.
Can we sing 'Do You Hear The People Sing' as we build barricades?!
And how do you propose we do it?

Pitchforks, lanterns and a hangmans noose?

Mob justice at it's best?

We have a police force to deal with crime. It's what we pay our taxes for.
Bring some cake for the peasants
just saw the link... Bl00dy hell... It was Wayne Rooney that done it!!!

Hi China Doll,

with all due respect, the police are absolutly awful. We pay taxes and for what? They dont actually do anything.

-- answer removed --
How are the police 'awful'?

They do a difficult and demanding job which can involve them putting their own lives on the line. I don't see many on here volunteering to do their job. They'd rather just judge from the sofa with their knee jerking.

I've had to call them frequently in previous jobs I've done and they've never been anything but professional.

If their hands are tied then perhaps you should look to the justice system rather than blaming the police.

This mob mentality leaves me cold.

i'm sure you'd notice if the police suddenly stop working though feelap - crime and fear of crime is terrible but what i think you are suggesting sounds much worse.

if you want to make a difference why not try to work with the community rather than try to stir up an angry mob, form a neighbourhood watch, call round on elderly neighbours to see if they are alright, get involved in sports for kids and clubs for teens so you can provide activities and hopefully be a role model, organise community days where people come out and actually clean up the streets around them (i'm thinking graffiti and posters etc) as a well looked after area breeds pride in a community. it won't stop crime but might show young people who lack direction or a moral compass a better way of behaviour rather than hanging around in gangs causing throuble

Do you see yourself as caped crusader? or more of a swinging through the city on a thread kind of guy?

Or is the idea more of you and your "right thinking" mates stalking the streets after dark and beating up people you think look suspicious?

Hmm nice!

Do you have a name yet?

How about "The National Association of Zealots Incorporated"?

How about a uniform? I think black shirts are traditional?

Why do you think there are no consequences?

Also, do you think people should be given a trial first (after all the picture is of a suspect or would you just like to have mob justice?

And as Iggy says - what do you do in your local community to help?
Seriously if you want to do something and think the Police do nothing go and sign up to become a special

http://specials.homeoffice.gov.uk/

When you've spent a few Saturday nights trying to stop all the drunken idiots from killing themselves and each other and been met with vomit and abuse for your trouble you'll be in a much better position to comment on who useful they are.

There is always a need for magistrates too

I think the police are understaffed, underpaid and overworked. I spoke with a P.C for a while and he complained of the pressure they are put under with high crime especially in juveniles and the fact that there just aren't enough police anymore. He was constantly working to the limits. I dont envy that job and would never do it. My dads best mate was a P.C for years and helped in the 'babes in the wood case', he was amognst the officers that discovered the bodies of the 2 kids. He was never offered any sort of counciling for what he had seen, and actually discouraged to seek any sort of help!!! Their job is a S!*T job. I think it's ridculous that children under a certain age cannot be convicted of a crime!! This country is falling apart in many ways and this is one. Something drastic has to happen!! I'm fed up to
"Too late i'm afraid the lily livered PC brigade has taken us to the point of no return. "

It's not just the constables, Raggy. It's the lily-livered sergeants too. ;-)
come to Wensleydale minimal crime no yobs no visible police force .. nice countryside
Not just Wensleydale there are lots of better places.

Don't sit on top of a rubbish heap complaining that the whole world stinks!
I think the problem with the police is that there's just not enough of them out on the streets as a visible deterrent, for whatever reason.

You do look twice these days when you see a policeman walking around the streets. The strange thing though is how many you see in patrol cars on motorways. Personally I'd rather see a few more of those diverted to town and city centres.
I'm with you on this, feelap.

Where shall we meet? Do you want me to bring some sandwiches?

Question Author
